Ever wondered whether people experience your leadership the way you think they do? Leadruption explores the funny, frustrating, and occasionally uncomfortable contradictions hiding inside modern leadership. Hosted by Emma Last, Informed Leadership consultant, People Director and speaker. This is leadership development with less corporate nonsense and a little more humanity. Each short episode explores one idea, behaviour, or Leadruptionary word, from difficult conversations and decision-making to trust, culture, AI, authority, and the everyday habits that quietly shape how people experience us. It’s for leaders of businesses, people, communities, and movements who want sharper judgement, stronger trust, and a more informed way to lead. Expect humour, disruption, honest reflection, and the occasional “Oh heck. I do that.” New 5–6 minute podshots every weekday morning.Copyright 2026 Emma Last Economics Leadership Management Management & Leadership Personal Development Personal Success

  • Priorititis - When Everything Is a Number One Priority
    30 Oct 2026

“This needs to be the priority.” Fine. Until something else also becomes the priority. Then another thing. And another. In this episode of Leadruption, Emma Last explores Priorititis, the leadership habit of continually adding number-one priorities without ever removing any of the existing ones.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • What Priorititis is, and why calling everything important eventually makes nothing clear.
    • What happens when leaders add new priorities without making decisions about what should stop.
    • How conflicting demands create confusion, overload and frustration for the people expected to deliver them.
    • Why “everything is critical” is not really a prioritisation strategy.
    • A question to consider: If this really is the priority, what are you willing to deprioritise to make space for it?

A priority list containing everything is not a priority list.

Even if several items are highlighted in red.

  • Selfexemption - When the Rules Apply to Everyone Else
    29 Oct 2026

Most leaders believe in standards, consistency, and accountability. The interesting bit is what happens when those same standards become inconvenient for the person in charge. In this episode of Leadruption, Emma Last explores Selfexemption, the quiet belief that the rules we advocate are mainly intended for other people.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • What Selfexemption looks like in everyday leadership.
    • Why the same behaviour can be judged very differently depending on who is doing it.
    • How easily leaders can explain away their own behaviour as “context” while holding others to a much firmer standard.
    • Why inconsistency can quietly damage trust and credibility.
    • A question to consider: Where might you be expecting something from other people that you are not consistently modelling yourself?

The policy might apply to everybody.

But sometimes leadership seems to come with a surprising amount of context.

  • Listenough - Are You Listening, or Just Waiting to Speak?
    28 Oct 2026

Most of us think we’re pretty good listeners. We nod, make eye contact and stay quiet while someone else speaks. But in this episode of Leadruption, Emma Last explores Listenough, the moment when we stop really listening and start waiting for our opportunity to respond, advise, explain or fix.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • What Listenough is, and how quickly “I’ve seen this before” can become “I already know what this is”.
    • Why experience and pattern recognition can sometimes get in the way of genuine curiosity.
    • How power changes what people are willing to tell leaders, and why “my door is always open” only matters if people feel safe once they walk through it.
    • Why listening does not mean agreeing, and how good listening can improve the information leadership decisions are based on.
    • Two questions to consider: When people speak to you, are you listening for what they mean, or listening for your opportunity to respond? And what might people tell you if they knew you weren’t going to immediately explain, defend or fix it?

Sometimes the most powerful thing a leader can do is not have the answer.

It’s create enough space for the truth to finish the sentence.
