In this episode of Created to Write, Australian author Rose Dee brings warmth, honesty and a deep love of North Queensland to one of the most quietly moving conversations we've had on the show.

Rose writes tropical fiction rooted in place and character. She balances her creative life with running a business and raising a family. Her pantser writing process lets characters breathe and develop organically, refusing to force stories into rigid technical structures. It's faith-based writing that trusts the journey as much as the destination.

The emotional heart of this conversation is Rose's recenthiatus following the loss of her husband. Her willingness to speak openly about grief and the different seasons of a creative life is both rare and deeply encouraging for any Christian writer navigating loss without losing their calling.

Her message to every aspiring beginner writer is patient andprofound: stay authentic, honour your season, and trust that the stories will come when the time is right.

Rose, who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree, was born in North Queensland, Australia. Her childhood experiences growing up in a small beach community would later provide inspiration for her first novel, Back to Resolution. Beyond Resolution and A New Resolution are the second and third books in the Resolution series.Back to Resolution won the Bookseller’s Choice award at the 2012 CALEB Awards, while A New Resolution won the 2013 CALEB Prize for Fiction. She has also released The Greenfield Legacy, a collaborative novel written in conjunction with three other outstanding Australian authors, and has recently released the standalone novel, Ehvah After. Her novels are inspired by the love of her coastal home and desire to produce exciting and contemporary stories of faith for women.
