Kyle MacLachlan is on board! From the surreal world of David Lynch to the very real perils of travelling with a dodgy stomach, Kyle MacLachlan has some stories. The Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet and Sex and the City star chats to Alan about Hollywood near-misses, the bizarre devotion of Twin Peaks fans in Japan, a romantic motorbike trip from London to Rome that didn't quite go to plan, and the surprise encounter on his honeymoon. Plus: the big roles he turned down, what it was really like working with David Lynch, and planning a trip to Machu Picchu with Alan. Kyle's brilliant new memoir, Fictional Selves, is out now. Buckle up. This flight gets wonderfully weird. ✈️🏝️ 00:00 Welcome aboard with Kyle MacLachlan00:45 His memoir Fictional Selves and the different versions of himself01:45 Filming Dune in the Mexican desert03:15 The motorbike trip from London to Rome04:30 Why he wrote his memoir for his son05:15 Family holidays growing up06:15 Why Kyle loves England06:45 Imposter syndrome and auditioning07:45 The David Lynchiverse and Blue Velvet09:40 Twin Peaks fans in Japan10:30 Desert adventures and his ideal holiday11:30 Holiday romances and a honeymoon in Italy12:50 Being recognised as Agent Dale Cooper14:00 Sex and the City, mummies and awkward scenes16:30 The Hollywood roles that got away17:50 What David Lynch taught him about storytelling18:50 Why Twin Peaks changed television20:00 Travel nightmares and toilet-roll trouble21:30 Street food, chicken feet and crunchy crabs23:00 Dream hotels and a honeymoon surprise with Patrick Stewart24:00 Could Kyle be a Traitor?25:00 Machu Picchu, Turkey and dream destinations26:30 Alan's quick-fire holiday questions #LifesABeach #KyleMacLachlan #AlanCarr #TwinPeaks #DavidLynch #SexAndTheCity #BlueVelvet #Podcast #TravelPodcast #ComedyPodcast Learn more about your ad choices.
