Tynan Gable is a former collegiate volleyball player whose path through sport has been anything but linear. After growing up as a multisport athlete and initially focusing on basketball, an ACL tear in high school unexpectedly opened the door to volleyball. Tynan went on to play collegiately at Willamette University, but after three years, a challenging experience within the program led to the decision to step away from the sport and pursue a dual-degree program instead.
In this episode, Tynan reflects on leaving volleyball, navigating repeated injuries, and searching for purpose beyond the structure and competition that athletics once provided. After earning her MBA and beginning a career in consulting, Tynan found that the drive to keep pushing through — a mindset that had served so well in sports — could also make it difficult to recognize when a situation was no longer serving the life she wanted to build.
Following a third ACL surgery and a period of feeling disconnected from work and life, Tynan and her partner took a leap and spent a year traveling across the country in a truck and trailer. That experience ultimately sparked an entirely new direction: entrepreneurship and the creation of Citrus Wellness, a filtered shower head company inspired by the dramatic differences they noticed in water quality while traveling.
Tynan shares a thoughtful perspective on knowing when to pivot, saying yes to unexpected opportunities, and learning that resilience isn't always about pushing through. Sometimes, moving forward means recognizing what no longer serves you and creating space for something new.
