Overthinking Reality looks at reality TV through the lens of human behavior. Licensed therapists Ian and Tori bring two different perspectives to the conversation: Ian is new to the reality TV world, while Tori is a longtime fan with years of franchise history. This season, they’re overthinking The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, from the relationships and communication to the unforgettable moments everyone is talking about. New episodes every week. • Overthinking RHOSLC: Britani’s Reckoning
    30 Oct 2026

One party. Every unresolved conflict. And Britani at the center of nearly all of it.

In this RHOSLC Season 7, Episode 7 recap, Ian and Tori overthink Heather Gay’s Jupiter Year party, where Angie K becomes the “Truth Fairy,” Bronwyn Newport confronts Britani Bateman over her investigation into the property deed, and Mary Cosby clashes with Britani over the missing flowers.

Ian and Tori explore why Britani’s repeated need to explain herself comes across as defensiveness, how good intentions can still cause harm, and what happens when proving your point becomes more important than hearing the other person.

They also unpack the difference between conflict rooted in a real relationship and “mess for the sake of mess,” the Housewives’ unwritten rules of fighting fair, and how someone can stir up conflict before stepping into the role of rescuer.

Plus, Ian struggles with another hour of unresolved arguments, Mary wants to know where the food is, Angie eats candy from Britani’s hair, and Tori realizes she may need more time between watching RHOSLC and putting on her therapist hat.

  • Overthinking RHOSLC's Boss Lady Brunch
    23 Oct 2026

In this RHOSLC S7E6 recap, Mary Cosby’s Boss Lady Brunch is supposed to restore peace after San Francisco. Instead, it brings an apology, a refusal to apologize, and an accusation that Whitney helped bring Quai into the group to push Meredith off the show.

Licensed therapists Ian and Tori unpack the difference between reacting and responding, why an empty apology may not repair a relationship, and what changes once someone knows their behavior is causing hurt but chooses to continue.

They also explore why shifting alliances can make friendship feel possessive, how trying to control someone else’s relationships can become self-sabotaging, and what happens when genuine friendships collide with the business of reality television.

Plus, Whitney and Quai attempt to repair their friendship, private information becomes Bravo’s business, and Ian learns why rumors are taken so seriously in Salt Lake City.

  • Overthinking the Diss Track Scheme | RHOSLC S7E5
    17 Oct 2026

What happens when “it was just a joke” becomes a reason not to acknowledge someone else’s feelings?

Licensed therapists Ian and Tori overthink the human behavior behind RHOSLC Season 7, Episode 5. First, they explore how Whitney and Bronwyn are navigating changing identities, uncertain relationships, and the temptation to believe happiness will arrive after one external circumstance changes.

Then Lisa becomes convinced that Bronwyn accused her and Meredith of scheming, despite footage showing that Britani made the original comment. Ian and Tori examine semantics, confirmation bias, and how tone, timing, and existing relationships shape what we believe we heard.

Finally, Lisa and Meredith perform their “Hypocrisy and B.S.” diss track at Bronwyn’s party. When Bronwyn becomes upset, the performance is defended as a joke before Lisa returns with an evil laugh and an encore. Ian and Tori discuss intent versus impact, rationalization, and why blaming someone’s emotional reaction can prevent accountability.

Plus, Ian gives his honest diss-track review, and Angie’s seasickness delivers the funniest edit of the episode.
