In this episode, I'm thrilled to welcome horror actress, writer, producer, and filmmaker Sadie Katz! Horror fans will recognize Sadie from films like "Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort," "Blood Feast," "The Beast Inside," and countless other genre favorites. We dive into her journey through the horror world, how she built a career both in front of and behind the camera, and what continues to fuel her passion for creating unforgettable genre stories. Sadie also shares behind-the-scenes stories from some of her most memorable projects, discusses the challenges and rewards of working in independent horror, and what it takes to keep pushing creative boundaries in an ever-changing industry.

We also get sidetracked in the most entertaining way when we talk about how she called the cops because of a missing teddy bear, Air BnB fears, nudity in horror, and I point out that if "Misery" was remade today it would be overtaken with Paul Sheldon's character being an influencer instead of a writer. Be sure to follow Sadie Katz on her Instagram page here.

In this episode, I'm thrilled to welcome Nathan Baesel, the man who brought the unforgettable Leslie Vernon to life in "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon!" We dive into the film's brilliant blend of horror and dark comedy, the creative risks that made it stand out, and the amazing people he worked with on the film. Nathan tells me how he crafted a character that's equal parts charismatic and completely unhinged. He shares what it was like stepping into the mindset of a slasher-in-training, along with behind-the-scenes stories that make you appreciate just how cleverly this film was put together. Nathan also reflects on the movie's cult following, why it continues to resonate with horror fans, and how Leslie Vernon carved out his own space among the genre's most iconic killers. We also get some insight into the Kickstarter, it's benefits and more for "Behind the Mask 2: The Return of Leslie Vernon".

We also get sidetracked in the most entertaining way when we talk about how Johnny Depp somehow missed his calling as the king of luxury mattresses, our deep appreciation for practical effects that actually feel real, and Nathan's full-circle moment of growing up on "A Nightmare on Elm Street" before eventually working alongside Robert Englund. It's chaotic, hilarious, and exactly the kind of detour you hope for. Make sure to help "Behind the Mask 2: The Return of Leslie Vernon" grow and get more epic by contributing on their Kickstarter here. Be sure to follow Nathan Baesel on his social media pages below:

  • Rod Blackhurst Loves Horror
    May 5 2026

In this episode, I'm beyond excited to welcome "Dolly" director and co-writer Rod Blackhurst! We dive deep into the film's haunting atmosphere, the creative decisions that shape its unsettling tone, and the process of building tension that lingers long after the credits roll. Rod pulls back the curtain on what it really takes to bring a project like "Dolly" to life, from the earliest sparks of an idea to the challenges of executing a story that thrives on mood, character, and unease. It's a conversation packed with insight, passion, and a genuine love for storytelling that horror fans are going to eat up.

We also get distracted with what got us into horror as kids, my adventures working at four different video stores, and a surprisingly important question Rod asked me that no guest has ever asked in the entire history of the podcast. What starts as a deep dive into"Dolly" quickly turns into a full-on horror nerd-out session, filled with laughs, nostalgia, and the kind of chaotic, off-the-rails fun that makes these conversations so damn entertaining. Don't miss seeing "Dolly", now avilable on VOD now on Shudder!! Be sure to follow Rod Blackhurst on his social media pages below:
