This episode begins with one of the strangest murder stories to ever pass through the offices of the Turlock Daily Journal. In 1934, Clarence DeMoss shot his wife, Mabel, near Hilmar, then made his way to Turlock and calmly confessed to newspapermen: “I know. I shot my wife.” What followed was a bizarre newsroom confession, a phone call to the hospital, a murder trial involving his own children, and eventually the gallows at San Quentin.
Then, Turlock Unburied introduces a new recurring series: The Hauntings of North Turlock. In “I Remember You,” a family living in an ordinary modern home begins experiencing unexplained disturbances — scattered laundry, a shadow figure watching from a child’s bedroom, flickering lights, and a terrifying electrical failure. When amateur investigators bring in a spirit box, the answers seem to point back to a Ouija board encounter from decades earlier.
Two very different stories. One buried in Turlock’s past. One disturbingly close to the present.
