Summary

Heart Felt is more than a podcast - it's a space for real, human connection.

My mission is simple: to give people a voice. Not the polished, performative voice that society often expects - but the voice that comes from the heart, from the soul.

It's about holding space for others to share their perspective with judgment.

  • 🎙️Episode 72: Creature Comforts and Outback Lessons
    3 Nov 2026

This is a solo episode, and I’m sharing it with slightly tired eyes after a rather sleepless night under tent 🏕️. About two months ago I decided it was time to sell the house and start living my desires. Now Russell and I are out in the Australian Outback, visiting places I have dreamed of for years: Longreach, Winton, Uluru, Kakadu, Litchfield and Coober Pedy 🌏✨

For a long time, my creature comforts held me back from this kind of adventure. I love my bed just right, with the air conditioner on, never too hot and never too cold, all snuggled in 🛏️ Camping in a tent on a blow up mattress has quietly asked me to let a lot of that go. I have walked across grass in Longreach so hot I could barely stand on it. I have brushed dirt out of the sheets more times than I care to admit 🌩️ Last night the mattress slowly lost its air every couple of hours, and I woke at 6 o’clock folded up like a concertina 😅 That mattress is now in the skip bin, and I’m so grateful it happened while I could still buy a new one before heading somewhere remote.

I also share the surprising joy I found in a town with a Woolworths, Coles, Bunnings and BCF after weeks of tiny remote stores 🛒 I had my hair cut and my toenails painted 💅 Russell even coloured my hair for me, and I’m so proud of him. I talk about craving fresh fruit and lighter food in the heat, my love of coconut water and mineral water with lime 🥥🍋, and the moment a gust of wind knocked over my beloved water filter 💧

This is the whole story, not just the pretty parts. It’s about noticing what keeps me in my comfort zone, what gently nudges me out of it, and discovering I can cope with far more than I ever believed 💛

I am learning that my heart knows the way, even when my body would rather be tucked up in bed 🌅

  • 🎙️Episode 71: Breaking the Silence and Understanding the Freeze with Caroline Clarke
    27 Oct 2026
I recorded this episode while travelling through the outback of Queensland 🌾, and it felt so aligned that my path finally crossed with Caroline Clarke's after so long trying to find her. Caroline is a former police officer, trauma educator, speaker and advocate, the founder of No More Silence Movement and Breaking the Good Girl Code, and the current Ms Australia Legacy International 2026 title holder 👑. She has stood on both sides of the door, investigating these crimes professionally and then living one personally when she was raped during a massage in November 2024.I felt goose pimples again and again as Caroline shared her story 🥹. She spoke about a story she wrote as a nine year old about a neglected toothbrush, and how she later realised it was really about herself. She spoke about losing her mum to dementia, holding her hand for the last time, and how that grief opened the door to looking honestly at her childhood 🕊️. She also shared the remarkable meaning behind her police collar number, 5144, and how it connected to turning 51 and to the little four year old girl inside her who had been silenced for so long.Caroline explained the freeze response with such clarity and compassion, how the body chooses stillness to survive long before the mind can catch up 🦌. Hearing her speak about the shame so many survivors carry for simply staying still touched something deep in me. I only learned about the fawn response a few years ago, and I recognised so much of my own life in what she described 💔.I was moved by her wish for every child to be believed and never have to carry their fears alone 🌱, and by how much it means to her when someone truly has her back and shows it through their actions. Her reflections on boundaries, on building trust in her own no, and on finding safety within herself left me with so much to sit with. Her message to her younger self, calling her darling girl and reminding her she was never flawed, simply surviving, brought tears to my eyes 🤍.I want to gently mention that this conversation speaks about sexual assault and childhood abuse, and I hope anyone listening feels held and takes care of their heart.I hold this conversation close to my heart, and I hope Caroline's courage lands softly wherever it is needed most 💛✨You can find me at 🌐 Website: https://www.juliemargerison.com 📩 Subscribe to my fortnightly newsletter to stay connected https://www.juliemargerison.com/newsletter 🎧 Available now on all platforms.🔗 Stay in touch:Follow me across my social media platforms here:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/heartfeltwithjuliemargerison Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/16kXnE4SGn/?mibextid=wwXIfr YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@JulieMargerison-q5l LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/julie-margerison-1a4513374 Buzzsprout: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2514174 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3IqNNE9VP8FrCZgDyhZsWK?si=5898476e481a4622 Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/heart-felt-with-julie-margerison/id1824601386 ✨ Connect with Caroline:Website: carolineclarke.com.au Instagram: instagram.com/caroline_clarke__ Facebook: facebook.com/caroline.clarke.9406 YouTube: youtube.com/@NoMoreSilenceMovement Any other platforms: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-05-19/cameron-petrie-pleads-guilty-to-raping-sunshine-coast-mother/106697728 https://www.news.com.au/national/crime/i-believe-you-how-three-words-inspired-mum-and-excop-to-take-down-her-massage-therapist-rapist/news-story/5e9e44420c1736a90590f526514928d4 #HeartFeltPodcast #NoMoreSilence #BreakingTheGoodGirlCode #TraumaHealing #SurvivorVoices

  • 🎙️Episode 70: My Gap Year at 56, Life on the Road 🚐
    20 Oct 2026

I’m recording this episode from a campsite, cough and all 🏕️ After three weeks of a cold that refused to let go, I can finally feel the cloud beginning to lift, and I wanted to share where my heart has taken me.

Back in May 2026, I gave myself a weekend alone in Maroochydore, imagining beach walks and a good book 🌊 Instead, a clairvoyant reading opened something deep within me. One simple question, ‘Can I boil an egg?’, showed me how often I have been lying to myself. That night I couldn’t sleep, so I journalled and journalled until the truth was impossible to ignore. I wasn’t happy living in Gympie, even though I had always been told to be grateful for everything I had ✍️

With my daughter Shauna’s help and a pen and paper, my dream finally felt possible. By 16 September, exactly three years to the day after moving in, the house was sold and settled, and Russell and I had bought an apartment at Kings Beach to call home between adventures 🏡 I feel a little like a gypsy now, finally having the gap year I never had after leaving school in Year 10 💫

In this episode I share the joys and the wobbles of my first two weeks on the road. There’s the tent peg drill that saved Russell and me an hour 😄, the thongs that hurt my feet until my Havianas came back to me, learning to stay hydrated in the dry outback heat, and cold afternoon swims with dollar icy cups that made me feel like a child again 🍧 I also open up about how I started to doubt myself when other campers commented on my big setup, and how I’m learning there is no right or wrong way, only what feels right for me and my little turtle 🐢

Today at Porcupine Gorge, swimming in nature without my swimmers and sunbaking on a glorious rock, I felt like myself for the first time in months ☀️ After all the doing, my nervous system is finally starting to soften.

Coming up next is Episode 71, Caroline’s story, a conversation that reminded me exactly why I do what I do with Heart Felt 💛

I am learning that following my heart is the bravest journey I have ever taken 🌿
