  • Golf Rehab Episode 15 – Are Golf Influencers More Important Than Tour Pros? Aftermarket Shafts, Stronger Irons & Golf Traditions
    2 Nov 2026

Send us a message, or your questions

Another week on Golf Rehab, and James has managed to break yet another golf club! Between club championships, questionable match-play performances and some much-needed practice, there's plenty to talk about this week.

Pete and James get into the equipment debate, asking whether expensive aftermarket driver shafts are really worth the extra money, and whether modern irons are becoming too strong in loft at the expense of height, spin and stopping power.

In this week's Diagnosis, we tackle some bigger questions facing the game:

    • Are golf influencers becoming more important than professional golfers?
    • Is golf losing its traditions, and does it actually matter?
    • Should golfers have a maximum number of practice swings before hitting the ball?

We also catch up on Operation Scratch, discuss the importance of keeping pace of play, and James delivers this week's Prescription with some practical putting drills to help you hole more putts.

Plus, we're getting closer to The Longest Day at Mount Broughton on November 30, playing 72 holes in support of the Kids' Cancer Project. We talk about the challenge, fundraising and why skin cancer checks should be on every golfer's to-do list.

If you'd like to support the cause, any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated. You can donate here:

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • Distance vs accuracy: Are you focusing on hitting the ball further when keeping it in play could save you more shots?

    • Putter changes: Can a new putter or hockey-style grip fix your putting, or are golfers too quick to change equipment?

    • Regular vs stiff shafts: James explains why shaft flex, weight and profile matter more than the label alone.

    • How to improve your short game: Pete shares how changing his chipping technique and ball position helped him shoot under par over 10 holes for the first time.

    • LIV Golf's future: The latest player movements and what could happen next.
