Real estate is housing, its business, and so much more. Its complex. This podcast breaks down complex real estate issues such as sales, mortgages, foreclosures, and more. My name is Chuck Hamm. I began in real estate started after college when I became a sales agent in 2004, a licensed broker in 2008, then graduated of law school in 2017, and passed the California Bar Exam in 2019. I am a licensed mortgage loan originator, and principal and officer of California Mortgage Professionals, and I am a principal and officer in a nonjudicial foreclosure business, where I also assist in processing foreclosures. In this episode, Chuck Hamm interviews David Reel—Ventura County and Camarillo City Historian, author, and fellow podcaster—about the fascinating story of Lucy Hicks. Once a celebrated hostess and chef in Oxnard during the early 20th century, Lucy became the center of national controversy when her identity and past collided with federal law. They touch on Lucy's journey, from her roots in Kentucky to her life in Ventura County, highlighting her role in Oxnard’s social scene, her run-ins with the law, and the legacy she left behind. Tune in for a compelling conversation about crime and identity, in one of the most intriguing chapters of local California history.
