How can we give a name back to a missing person and give their family an answer they have long been waiting for?At first glance, DNA may seem like the key to uncovering the truth and establishing a person’s identity. But identifying a deceased or missing person requires more than a laboratory match. It is a careful process that brings together science, multiple areas of expertise and different actors, all working towards restoring a person’s name, identity and dignity.
In this episode of the “Men El Miden” podcast, Carla Abi Akl is joined by Colonel Hany Kallassy, Chief of the ISF Forensic Laboratories, and Rawan Chaaban, Forensic Specialist at the ICRC, to discuss the identification process, in addition to the scientific techniques, expertise and actors that come together in the search for the truth.
