Paula Fong’s sound moves through the full landscape of Americana – from the stark, grounded beauty of Gillian Welch-style roots music to traditional country swing in the vein of Patty Griffin, from Joni Mitchell-inspired fingerstyle guitar work to old-time traditions. She’s been compared to Karla Bonoff and Linda Ronstadt for her ability to move fluidly between genres while maintaining a distinctive voice. Her range isn’t merely stylistic – it’s rooted in a genuine love for the breadth of American roots music and the folk traditions that influenced it. Hope you’ll enjoy for my talk with singer-songwriter and guitarist, Paula Fong.

Wesley Stace has been very prolific when it comes to releasing music. Most of his records were released under the name John Wesley Harding, but in recent years he's returned to his birth name, Wesley Stace. His songs have been featured in film and television and have also been covered by other artists, including Graham Parker, Josh Ritter, Kelly Hogan, and Tanya Donelly. Wesley is also the author of four novels. He teaches courses in songwriting, a busy schedule for sure, but he's back with a new album, One Last Heist, releasing September 2nd.

Eddie Angel heard Elvis Presley records when he was a kid, and he wanted to play like Scotty Moore when he picked up a guitar at age 12. He got his hands on a copy of Play Guitar with the Ventures. He loved The Beatles. As time went on he discovered Link Wray and Dick Dale. Eddie honed his rockabilly guitar chops playing in the Washington DC club scene...Link Wray’s old stompin’ grounds. These days, Eddie tours the world with Los Straitjackets, who have spent the last 5 years touring and recording with Nick Lowe. Stay tuned for my talk with Eddie Angel.

Grey DeLisle has been writing songs since she was around 5 years old. Back then, she just assumed everyone wrote songs. Her talent for singing and writing, and… her gift for doing voices continued on. Grey is now known as THE most prolific voice actor in American animation history. Her first stand-up comedy special, named – wait for it… “My First Stand-Up Comedy Special” received rave reviews. And her new album Grey & Greene, is a fantastic album with two amazing vocalists backed by a killer group of musicians. Stay tuned for my talk with the one and only Grey DeLisle.

India Ramey has been referred to as “The Woman in Black” and “The Wednesday Addams of Country Music”. India’s 2017 album Snake Handler landed her in Rolling Stone’s 10 New Country Artists You Need to Know. Her 2020 album Shallow Graves debuted at number six on the Euro Americana chart.

That was followed by 2024’s fiery Baptized by the Blaze, another great album where she confronts her journey through the fire toward healing and empowerment. [00:21:00] And on May 8, we’ll see the release of her new record, Villain Era. You’re hearing a track from it now. Stay tuned for my talk with India Ramey.

I’ve been a fan of Kevin’s music for a long time and it was great to catch up with him recently. We talked about his early days growing up in Louisiana, his early punk band, his move to Nashville, and also the musicians, including Keith Richards, Scotty Moore, Levon Helm, Webb Wilder and Irma Thomas who’ve performed his songs. Stay tuned for more music and great stories from a very gifted musical artist. An interview with Kevin Gordon
