Welcome to Fandom Shmandom, the podcast where your hosts, Sam and Sierra, dive deep into the fandoms you know and love (or maybe need to catch up on!).

This isn't just a nostalgic trip; it's a mission. Each season, Sam and Sierra pick a massive, active, or beloved fandom that's about to drop a huge new release—be it a movie, TV show, game, or book. Think Star Wars, the next phase of the MCU, a new Zelda entry, or the latest version of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Over the season, they'll guide you through the essentials:

  • The Lore: Breaking down the canon, the world-building, and the history you need to know.

  • The Essentials: What to watch, read, or play to be ready for the new launch.

  • The Theories: Diving into the wild, the brilliant, and the totally bonkers fan predictions.

  • The Culture: Discussing the community, the controversies, and the lasting impact of the franchise.

Whether you're a lifelong veteran who wants to relive the classics or a complete newbie who needs a crash course before opening night, Fandom Shmandom is your ultimate prep guide.

A donation to the Trevor Project will be made for each episode we release here about Harry Potter. Fandom Shmandom does not support or tolerate any form of hate speech or action.

Here we focus on the stories, the characters, the fandom at large. Harry Potter’s ultimate message is about the strength of love, and that’s the story we focus on.

Sam and Sierra hop on the Hogwarts Express this 1st September and share their favorites of the Harry Potter books, as well as their house, Patronus, and wand.

The Odyssey Books 13-24: Idiots and Ithaca
    13 Jul 2026

We're getting ready for the biggest movie release this summer: The Odyssey by Christopher Nolan

Join Sam and guest Liz as they break down what you need to know from Homer's epic poem, The Odyssey.

In this episode, they cover the remaining books 13-24, which cover Odysseus's arrival back in Ithaca, many (unnecessary?) disguises, and an interesting ending to this story.

Liz and Sam then discuss their expectations for the movie and their questions for how Nolan is adapting this epic.
