A homecoming celebration near Florida A&M University (FAMU) turned into a nightmare when 11 people were shot, including several minors. Now, a 15-year-old suspect is facing 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder.
In this episode of The Mike Styles Experience, I discuss the disturbing reality of arguments escalating into gunfire, the consequences of poor decision-making, and the question that always seems to come up when young people are involved in violent crimes: WHERE ARE THE PARENTS?
What's going on at home? Where are the boundaries, discipline, guidance, and accountability? Could stronger parental involvement and early intervention help prevent tragedies like this?
While we cannot automatically blame parents for their children's actions, these are conversations we need to have.
Eleven people were shot, lives have been forever changed, and a 15-year-old is facing serious criminal charges. All because of violence that never should have happened.
We have to do better. Make better choices.
Take care, stay safe, and remember: The goal is to make it home the same way you left, or better.
