  • Is money just an illusion?
    18 Oct 2026

Ever wondered what actually gives money its value? Thought about how a piece of paper, a number on a screen, or a few coins can be worth so much? Or questioned why the same amount of money can buy completely different things in different countries? Then this episode is for you!

In this episode of Educasement, Theo and his mum explore one of humanity’s most powerful inventions: money. What starts as a simple question about what money really is soon turns into a fascinating discussion about trust, value, and the idea that money might be little more than a shared human illusion. After all, if we all stopped believing it was worth something, what would happen?

Theo and Mum also dive into the curious world of exchange rates, exploring why currencies have different values and what happens when you exchange money from one country into another. How can the same amount of money mean something different depending on where you are in the world?

Join as they unpick the logic behind money and the systems we use every day, while Mum asks the questions that make us look twice at something most of us rarely stop to think about.

A curious conversation about money, currency, economics and one of the strangest ideas humans have ever agreed on — that little bits of paper and numbers on a screen can be worth a fortune!

  • Cracking Codes
    3 Oct 2026

Ever wondered how people managed to send secret messages before the days of encrypted apps and passwords? Thought cracking codes was something only spies and mathematicians could do? Or wondered how you’d get on if someone handed you a message you weren’t supposed to understand? Then this episode is for you!

In this episode, Theo and his mum dive into the fascinating world of codes and ciphers. They explore the simple but clever Caesar cipher, before moving on to the much more complicated Enigma machine — the famous code-breaking system used during the Second World War.

Along the way, they look at how codes actually work, why some are surprisingly easy to crack, and what makes others so much harder to break. As usual, Theo gets stuck into the maths and logic behind the ideas, while Mum asks the questions — and occasionally gets rather suspicious about just how much Theo seems to know about secret messages!

A curious look at the history, mathematics and logic behind cracking codes — and a reminder that sometimes the best way to understand a secret is to work out how it was hidden in the first place.

  • Newcomb’s Paradox
    5 Sep 2026

After a three-month summer break, Theo and his mum are back — refreshed, motivated, and ready to get stuck into some seriously questions!

In this episode, they dive into the strange world of paradoxes, where things can seem completely logical… until they suddenly aren’t. The Card Paradox provides a relatively easy introduction, but things get considerably more heated when they tackle Newcomb’s Paradox!

And because no episode would be complete without a few distractions, the conversation eventually moves from philosophical puzzles to technology, Geometry Dash and Theo’s latest mathematical adventure, as he reveals the details of an exciting new maths coaching opportunity.

After a long break, the curious Casements are back — and it seems Theo and Mum still don’t agree on everything!
