In the desert, one of the world's biggest and most complex building projects is taking shape.

The Gulf Cooperation Council is undertaking the building of a railway line in the Middle East. This mega project includes six of the Middle East's richest nations and is spearheaded by the UAE. The planned projection is that these nations will work together to build a more than 2000-kilometer-long railway line that will improve regional connectivity.

As the economies of the Arab Gulf are inextricably linked to the oil market, this huge railway project has the ability to change the Middle East since it will link the country's ports with commerce and industrial zones. Another important component of Etihad Railways is the 1,200-kilometer-long freight and passenger train that will connect the Gulf of Oman to the Persian Gulf.
