This Full Moon arrives on October 25 & 26, right at the mid-way point of the Venus Retrograde cycle. Just after Venus begins to emerge from the underworld after crossing through the purifying fires of the Sun, she enters her air sign home of Libra. Though still invisible in the night sky, Venus now sees a light at the end of the tunnel of this intense retrograde. The Full Moon itself is directly square Pluto, lord of the Underworld, the planet representing secrets, the shadow, and profound revelation. Themes relating to the shadowy underworld or revealing things previously hidden may dominate the news cycle during this time, but on a personal level, this can be a powerful time to release what no longer serves, just as Venus did in the heart of the Sun. You may also be encountering themes of power dynamics, or getting down to the root of an issue. Lastly, just moments before the Full Moon goes exact, Mercury also goes retrograde alongside Venus, in the sign of Scorpio. The New Moon in Libra arrives on October 10th, and a diplomatic, peacekeeping Libra lunation this is not. This energy is dominated by the spicy Venus Retrograde, which stationed in Scorpio on October 3rd, and won’t be direct again until November 13th.

Themes around this lunation may involve “breaking up” with something in your life. Libra rules relationship contracts and the rules of polite society. Venus, which rules this New Moon, is in a sign where she is not afraid to fight for what she wants and to go it alone if she has to. This is not a New Moon about keeping the peace, but about fighting for justice.

In Scorpio, Venus is interested in depth and emotional honesty. Ruling women, femmes, and queer people, Venus is also precisely in a turbulent square with Mars, planet of desire, heat, and conflict during this New Moon. This can represent breaking with societal norms while fighting for justice and equality, or that asking for what you truly desire may rattle a few feathers.
