  • Episode 28 (deutsch) mit Dr. Ludger Volmer
    4 Nov 2026

  • Episode 27 (English) with Dr BULAMI Edward Fonyuy (Cameroon)
    9 Oct 2026

In this episode, Dr. BULAMI Edward Fonyuy, anthropologist and cultural heritage scholar from Northwest Cameroon, talks about the long-standing efforts of the Nso community to regain Ngonnso and cultural belongings looted by Germany during colonial rule. Ngonnso is a deity embodied in a carved wooden statue that is adorned with cowrie shells. She has been held since 1903 by the Ethnological Museum Berlin which is part of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK). The SPK Board made a decision to return Ngonnso in June 2022. But she cannot go back to her people since the Government of Cameroon does not give permission until a comprehensive agreement with Germany will be reached on cultural belongings and ancestral remains. The conversation took place in Potsdam on 7 October 2026 as Dr. Bulami was invited to deliver the keynote address to a workshop by the Centre of Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr.
