      Wherein Deadhead girl and professional musician (and slide guitarist for our podcast theme music) Sally Van Meter tells the story of playing with Jerry Garcia shortly before he died. Grammy Award-winning slide guitarist Van Meter recorded "Blue Yodel #9 (Standing on the Corner)" with Jerry (in David Grisman's home studio) for the album The Songs of Jimmy Rodgers. Sally also talks about going to Dead shows at Winterland in the 1970s, the impact of Old and in the Way on the world of bluegrass, being a woman instrumentalist in a changing industry, and teaching music to young people.
