When life feels too heavy for polished prayers, Psalm 88 gives you words. In today’s Daily Devotion with Pastor Balla for October 23, 2026, we open Psalm 88:1-3 and hear a man at the end of his rope cry out to God day and night, with no happy ending in sight.

Discover why it is okay to bring God your sadness, fear, and troubles exactly as they are. We speak honestly about sin, suffering, and our need for a Savior, then turn to the good news: Jesus went to the cross and to the edge of the grave for you, cried out in the darkness, and rose again. Because of His redeeming work, forgiveness, grace, and salvation are yours as a free gift, and no prayer of yours goes unheard. You belong to the Kingdom of Heaven, and in the Lord’s Supper Christ gives you His true body and blood for the forgiveness of your sins.

Whether you are grieving, anxious, weary, or need encouragement from God’s Word, this short Bible devotion is for you.

  • Daily Devotion with Pastor Balla for October 22, 2026
    22 Oct 2026

In this Daily Devotion for October 22, 2026, Pastor David Balla walks through Psalm 87:7, the joyful last line of the song: All my springs are in you. A spring never runs dry, and these singers and dancers declare that every source of life they have is found in God, not in work, money, or anything else that can fail.

This devotion shows where the song finds its answer in Jesus, the living water who promised that whoever drinks of Him will never thirst again. Everything needed for life with God flows from Him alone. There we find true grace, forgiveness, and salvation, a spring that does not run out. Through His redemption we are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, and in His Word, in Baptism, and in the Lord’s Supper, where He gives His true body and blood for the forgiveness of sins, we drink from wells that never run dry.

When you feel empty today, do not run to broken wells. Come to Christ and drink freely, and like those singers, let a song rise up. All my springs are in you.

  • Daily Devotion with Pastor Balla for October 21, 2026
    21 Oct 2026

In this Daily Devotion for October 21, 2026, Pastor David Balla walks through Psalm 87:4-6, a shocking song in which God lists Israel’s old enemies, Egypt, Babylon, Philistia, Tyre, and declares of them, this one was born in Zion. A birth is something done to you, not by you. God builds the city and writes the names in His own book.

This devotion shows the good news in an early form: enemies of God brought home as His own children. Jesus died for those enemies, giving His life so strangers could be born into His family. In Baptism, God gave you that new birth and wrote your name in His book, once and finished. There we find true grace, forgiveness, and salvation, never earned by effort. Through His redemption we are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, and in the Lord’s Supper He feeds His family, giving His true body and blood for the forgiveness of sins.

Welcome the stranger gladly. You may be sitting next to someone God once seemed far from. And never doubt your own place. The Lord Himself wrote it down.
