  • Episode 128: 3 Things to Implement to Start the Year Right
    Mar 3 2026

Today, we're exploring three strategies you can implement to start your year off on the right foot. Although it's March, remember there's no magic in January 1st — we can start anew at any time.

    Decisive Action

The first key to a successful year is taking decisive action. By making clear decisions and sticking with them, you eliminate the fatigue and overwhelm of indecision. Consider pre-deciding aspects like when you'll work, the times you'll check emails, and the mentors you'll follow this year. For instance, I've decided not to work on Sundays, reserving those for rest and family time.

Scheduling email check-ins at specific times also provides boundaries and a sense of freedom. Another valuable tip is to choose a few key mentors to learn from, rather than overwhelming yourself with too many voices.

    Intentionality

Intentionality follows decisive action and is crucial to achieving goals. This means living purposefully in all areas — from your business decisions to parenting and personal faith. In an interview for a previous podcast, I realized that intentional decisions have been pivotal to my success in both life and business.

As Christians, we must be anchored in our beliefs and commitments to God, ensuring we are intentional about where we spend our time and energy. This might mean unplugging from distractions to truly engage with our kids or aligning business practices with core values.

    Structure

Lastly, structure is essential. As God created order out of chaos, we, too need structure in our lives to thrive. This includes routines that prioritize rest. We often find ourselves in giving roles, needing to minister both at home and in business. During chaotic seasons, like when my husband switched jobs, structure helped stabilize our home life.

Simple practices like consistent meal planning or creating restful spaces in our week can make a big difference. Rest enables us to tap into God's strength rather than relying solely on our own.

Rest doesn't always mean solitude; it can also involve silent prayer time, even during mundane activities like driving. Jesus himself spent time alone in prayer to restore strength — a practice we too can adopt by intentionally creating time and space for spiritual growth.

    Moving Forward

As you integrate these strategies — decisive action, intentionality, and structure backed by rest — aim for a balanced approach that honors the life God has called you to live. Remember, real success in business and life doesn't only come from working harder, but from aligning with God's plans and seeking His guidance continuously.

More about Jordan in her own words:

I'm Jordan Eggerth. I am a professional athlete and the American Record Holder in the Women's Decathlon with a passion for Track and Field and sharing Jesus through my sport! I have been beyond blessed in my life through my walk with Christ and He has helped shape me into the person I am today through trials, tribulations, love, grace, heartache, passion, grief, joy, pain, and His amazing plan with it all. Since He has given me such a platform to reach others, I have decided that I should be sharing Him in every avenue I possibly can and sharing His amazing stories in my life to help inspire and help others. I played many sports growing up including basketball (my passion), taekwondo, tennis, softball, and gymnastics. Even when I wasn't in an organized sport my days usually included lots of swimming, bike riding, tree climbing, knife throwing, gun/bow shooting, and many more activities. Track and Field, however, was not a sport I had the opportunity to compete in until my senior year of high school. In my senior year of high school my mother found Blane Williams with the Heat Track club at Kell High School. Coach Blane allowed me to join his team at 17yrs old and that opportunity has changed my life forever. After a year of running with The Heat I went to school at Kennesaw State University to join their Track and Field team and be coached by Andy Eggerth in 2014. Since then, I have graduated from Kennesaw State University where I was a 10x Conference Champion and 4x All-American in NCAA Division I Track and Field. I have competed at NCAA D1 Championships, USA Championships, the Thorpe Cup in Germany for Team USA x2, The National Women's Decathlon Championship x2, and the Open De France. I was also the Bronze Medalist at the Pan American Games in 2023. I continue with my professional career attempting to gain a spot on Team USA for various events. I am the American Record Holder in the Women's Decathlon, as well as the Women's Decathlon 100m Dash, Long Jump American Record Holder. I am also the World Record Holder in the Women's Decathlon Long Jump I am currently working towards helping get women the opportunity to compete in the Olympics in the Decathlon.
