  • How to Stay Safe When You’re Sick With T1D
    27 Oct 2026

Being sick sucks. Being sick as a type 1 diabetes sucks more.

Cait recently had a virus and her insulin needs rocketed. In this episode, she and Tracy chat about what happens to blood sugar when you're ill, the reason sick diabetics end up in hospital, and the sick-day rules you need to know to stay safe.

Plus, some surprising things about common cold and flu medicines that can affect blood sugar or CGM readings.

Because, when you’re T1D, sick days are not just about pjs and tissues. They’re also about finger pricks, ketone checks, and dose adjustments.

Read the DAFNE Sick Day Rules here.

  • #057: Carb Ratio Challenge: How Did We Do?
    20 Oct 2026

In September we set ourselves a diabetes challenge: figure out our carb ratios and get a better handle on the numbers behind our insulin doses.

So… did we actually do it?

In this episode, we report back on what we learned (and the things that got in the way).

We also discuss the power of “gut-feeling” when it comes to dosing and how carb counting can give you the data you need to build that all-important intuition over time.

We also set ourselves a new challenge. Because when it comes to diabetes, every day is a school day.

  • Teplizumab: Hit Snooze on Type 1
    6 Oct 2026

There's been a crazy breakthrough in type 1 diabetes healthcare. If you're screened early enough, there's a drug that can hit pause on type 1 diabetes before you're ever symptomatic. It's not a cure, but it can delay diagnosis by years. Nuts, right???

Not so helpful for those of us who've been diabetic for years. But great news for future diabetics, especially little kids.

In this episode, Dr Tracy explains this new drug (Teplimuzab), how it works, and who can actually get it. We also get honest about the price tag, and then ask the big question: if we could go back in time and be prepared for diagnosis, would we do it?

    What we cover:

💉 What is Teplimuzab? How does it work?

    🔍 Who qualifies?

💸 The healthcare economics (this stuff ain't cheap!)

⏪ What we would do if we could go back in time.
