During the summer of 1997, Ali was critically injured when her family was heading back from a vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks. The SUV she was riding in collided head-on with another car. Ali suffered severe trauma to her abdomen and in the first few weeks and months after the accident, it was unknown if she would survive. Since her accident, Ali has had 45 surgeries, and she is still dealing with daily issues. "I know that there are obstacles in life, but it is our choice on how we handle them."
