Two buddies banter with each other while talking about some of the movies that they never got around to checking out. They'll discuss what's great, not so great or is just plain awful about these movies that one or the other of them somehow managed not to see. Anybody can make a podcast about movies they HAVE seen, this about ones we HAVEN'T seen.

Just when you thought all your troubles seemed so far away -- WE'RE BACK! This week Matt and Tug dig into Danny Boyle's 2019 Beatles-centric rom-com, YESTERDAY. In it, a struggling musician wakes up in a world where only he remembers the Beatles, and he passes off their songs as his own. Tug will rant about why he thinks there would be no power pop – and a lot else – without the Beatles. Matt will ponder whether everyone knew there was a 12-second worldwide blackout or was it just Jack? And then both of them will try to figure out if the Beatles would be as popular and important as they are to music (and the world) if they had come out today vs 60 years ago. If you're looking for a rock 'n roll journey in our Yellow Submarine, or even want to hit us in the head with Maxwell's Silver Hammer, then take a listen now! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!

  • CINEMISSES! Masters of the Universe (2026)
    16 Oct 2026

If you grew up on He-Man: the toys, the cartoon, or the gloriously ridiculous names that sucked from day one, this conversation between Matt and Tug is for you. That's right, in today's episode we'll take on 2026's Masters of the Universe! We'll tell you why this long-delayed adaptation mostly works, where it stumbles, and why – no matter what – it still feels like a win for fans.

From the decades-long, wildly messy journey from toy-line nostalgia to a $200 million fantasy epic, we'll pore over the endless development hell, the revolving door of writers and directors, and the surprising creative choices that finally brought Eternia to life.

Along the way, we get delightfully nerdy about the original action figures, the cartoon, the shockingly horrible 1987 film, and the toy-line mythology that shaped the whole franchise. By the power of podcasts! WE HAVE THE POWER!

  • CINEMISSES! The Mist
    30 Sep 2026

Stephen King’s The Mist is a monster movie, a morality play, and a mid-tier episode of the Twilight Zone all at once — but does Frank Darabont’s 2007 adaptation work, or does it feel like a made-for-TV movie with slightly better creatures? (Spoiler alert: It's the latter.) In this episode, Matt and Tug unpack the grocery store siege, the movie's “monsters outside versus monsters inside” idea, some clunky exposition and dialogue, as well as the movie’s divisive ending that Darabont changed from the source material.

There's a lot to get into with this, not-so-great adaptation of a Stephen King story, (There are many) so put off that trip to the grocery store and sit down to listen.

And if you think Matt and Tug are scared to go out there -- you're right! Neither one of them wants eleventy billion spider creatures taking up residence in their chest cavities. THEY'RE OUT THERE! IN THE MIST!
