Andrew Robinson, CEO of the Nisga'a Lisims Government, joins Dallas for the Season 4 premiere. Twenty-six years into their treaty, the Nisga'a Nation has built a critical minerals port with the Tahltan in Stewart, created an energy corridor through the Nass Valley, constructed over 70 housing units in a single year, and raised a generation of citizens who grew up outside the Indian Act.
Andrew talks about what that generation inherited, what they're doing with it, and why treaties are about negotiating yourself into the country rather than out of it. He also shares stories about his family, the late Joe Gosnell's challenge to the nation, elder care, northern infrastructure gaps, the next generation of Nisga'a professionals, and what he thinks British Columbians should understand about what self-governance actually looks like.
Plus: the Let's Get Real segment, a question from George Abbott on climate change, and the best chow mein answer in podcast history.
Rez Dog Walkers is hosted by Dallas Smith, President of Na̲nwak̲olas Council, and produced in partnership with C3 Alliance and the Indigenous Resource Opportunities Conference (IROC).
