What if some of the most important clues to treating lung cancer are already inside our lungs? On this episode of The Unsung Lung Podcast, Jacob speaks with Dr. Kristi Baker, Associate Professor in the University of Alberta's Department of Oncology, about her research investigating the role of lung-resident immune cells in lung cancer progression and treatment response. Dr. Baker explains how cancer can evade the immune system, why some patients respond differently to treatment, and how understanding the complex environment surrounding lung tumours could open new avenues for future therapies.
With lung cancer remaining the most commonly diagnosed cancer and leading cause of cancer death in Canada, this Alberta-based research is helping tackle some of the fundamental questions that could shape the next generation of lung cancer care.
