Adobe has launched video generation capabilities for its Firefly AI platform. Users can now generate short videos from text or images, or extend existing videos using AI. Adobe is also introducing a Generative Extend feature for its Premiere Pro editing software which can add up to two seconds of AI-generated content to a video clip, including the extension of background audio.
This feature is designed to help video editors easily add more footage or smooth out transitions in their videos.
Although the text-to-video and image-to-video models are still under development, Adobe's focus is on providing AI tools that will enhance existing workflows, rather than solely creating new content from scratch.
The company aims to make its AI features both commercially safe and ethical by training Firefly on a carefully curated dataset and by including AI-generated watermarks in video metadata.
