Inspired by Ana Maria Guttierez’s experience as an architect who promotes building as a social experience, I have decided in this episode to explore other ways of designing our living spaces. More participatory and social approaches, illustrated by the example of architect Christopher Alexander.
Through his guide, “A Pattern Language”, he developed one of the first tools enabling everyone to engage with issues of urban planning and the design of their built environment.
Does this imply a new role for the architect? Perhaps one more in tune with the creation of a sustainable environment?
