Hi Mamas, Have you ever had something on your calendar that you were absolutely dreading? A work trip, a family obligation, a meeting, or an event you committed to but really don't want to attend? As busy working moms, we already have so much on our plates. And sometimes, the anticipation of something we don't want to do creates even more stress than the experience itself! In today’s episode, I'm sharing a personal story about a recent work trip to Chicago that I was NOT looking forward to. Between leaving my family, missing my daughter's volleyball playoffs, rearranging appointments, falling behind at work, and dealing with my anxiety around flying, I had plenty of reasons to dread this trip. But then my 13-year-old son turned my own parenting advice right back on me—and completely changed my perspective! It was a reminder that while we can't always control what we have to do, we can often control how we approach it. And sometimes, the experiences we dread the most turn out to be the ones that surprise us. In This Episode, We're Talking About: Why the anticipation of something stressful can be worse than the actual experienceHow to change your mindset when you have to do something you don't want to doThree simple mindset shifts to help you make the best of any situationHow to help your kids approach unwanted obligations with a more positive attitudeWhy being present matters, even in moments we didn't necessarily chooseHow to stop wishing away your life and start finding joy in everyday experiences 3 Mindset Shifts to Try This Week Acknowledge your feelings without letting them determine your attitude. You don't have to pretend you're excited about something you're dreading. Your feelings are valid, but they don't have to dictate your entire experience. Find one thing to look forward to. Instead of focusing on everything that could go wrong, ask yourself what might actually be good about the experience. A new connection? A fun conversation? An unexpected opportunity? Be where your feet are. Once you're there, give yourself permission to be fully present. Stop counting down the minutes and give the experience a chance. And if it's not fun, bring the fun! The next time you catch yourself dreading something you have to do, ask yourself: "If I'm going to spend my time doing this anyway, how can I make the most of it?" Because mama, your time is precious, and you deserve to enjoy as much of your life as possible—even the parts you didn't necessarily plan. 👉 And I'd love to hear what you're working on this week.
