FROM THE VAULT [ sorry, just now recovering this episode :( ] .

Annie was able to have the opportunity to operate as a community paramedic. She shares not only an insight into what the role and responsibility entails, but also shares her passion for community work, and our role in EMS in healthcare outside of ground-pounding on an ambulance.

Enjoy her humor, her enthusiasm, her Louisiana accent... mais! she's a couyon, yeah. ;)

  • mental health matters
    15 Sep 2026

September is suicide prevention month, and on this podcast, I'm a huge proponent of mental health, and as you'll hear in this episode, maybe I'm also a fan of rambling and rabbit trails that relate to the same central topics:

    - How mental health affects our patients/how we interact with them?

    - How mental health affects us as first responders.

I also give some personal lore. Sorta.

Biggest thing: you matter. Suicide is never the answer, and the pain you feel is matched with the idea of never getting closure and acceptance is left in your wake. Please, stay.

Call 988 if you need help, or talk to your coworkers or employers who you trust. Talk to a professional, or talk to your friend. Talk to your pet. Don't hold it in, and please, get the help you need. There's no shame in saying, "I'm not strong enough to do this by myself," and if anything, it shows strength to be able to reach out.

Take care of yourselves, look out for each other, and drink some water.

  • EMS: job, career, or profession?
    1 Sep 2026

YEP, I'M BACK! (this episode is unedited, so, enjoy the "raw" cut :)

like a broken record, I talk about how this job changes you- but it shouldn't CONSUME you. Is a job in EMS, no matter your position, is it a career, a profession, or a job? I'll break down these terms, talk about how it relates to our field, and why EMS/being a first responder shouldn't be your identity.

Today I'm interviewing Morgan Wilson. She's an AEMT and currently in paramedic school, helping teach as well. Of course, we talk about our field and how she approaches the job, her incredible positivity, and her popular TikTok page, @MorganHWilson.

"Give yourself a little bit of extra rest." Is some sage wisdom she drops that I don't think enough of us take, along with eating. Of course, you aren't you when you're hungry.

Sit back and listen along to this laugh-filled episode!

  • Thoughts on Code 3 and PTSD | with Alexis Stout
    15 Nov 2025

Hey folks, here's a quick episode for your ears this weekend!

First off, in the pod, I HAVE to share a quick story about a call I got. All we were told was that it was a guy "who ripped out his trachea."

I finally watched Code 3, the new Paramedic movie with Rainn Wilson, and I found it to be incredibly relatable. Listen for my full thoughts there.

Of course, I chat more about the calls I've been on, including the fun stuff and the tougher stuff, such as working with pediatric patients and dealing with the emotions that follow those calls. How do you deal with traumatic calls?

As always, sit back, let's have fun and let me know your thoughts in the comments!
