His leading from his grandparents' home into foster care and hers leading from being a victim of rape, the unpredictability of street life, and the doldrums of prison. Who knew that the power of words, poetry, hip-hop, art and the prayers of family and ancestors would grant each of them their pathways to survival and self-discovery.
