Description
Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses. Raised among the Wardens - a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe - Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most.
Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever. Then she meets Roth - a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to - especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul. But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne...it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Very good story with inconsistant vocals
Where does White Hot Kiss rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Somewhere in the middle of the pack
What was one of the most memorable moments of White Hot Kiss?
Roth's sacrifice out of love
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
mostly
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Most of the time, the lines are blurred.
Any additional comments?
In the case of The Dark Elements, narrator Saskia Maarleveld has a bit of trouble keeping the character voices defined.
For example, Roth has a mostly normal voice, but the essence of the voice changes unexpectedly. Whether growling, or whispering, the voice should be recognizable as his. The same problem exists with the voice of Zane. While I realize that an individual's voice sometimes changes in modulation, the tone of the voice used should still sound like the same character.
This is a problem throughout the book, and it effects all the male voices. For the most part, she does an excellent job with the female voices, and I have to say that all of the male voices do sound decidedly male. If she works a bit more, focusing on consistency for each characters voice, she has the potential to become very good.

Very…. teenage-y
I’m not a teenager but I usually enjoy YA and loved the From Blood and Ash series from the same author. This one however, is very teenage-y and not in a good way— hormonal girls talking about guys knowing their bra size and calling each other wh*res, references to social media and so on. Had to suffer through some portions of the book. At the same time, I like the setting and story, so three stars for that!

Awesome narrator! Love love Armentrout!
Armentrout never disappoints! Can't wait to start Stone Cold Touch! The narrator gave each voice a distinction. Love her too!

Not worth $5 (or a credit)
Someone else described this book as very “tennagery” and I have to agree. Bought on sale for $5 figuring it couldn’t be that bad. Sadly it was incredibly boring. A lot of words but no substance. Not steamy. Not romantic. Just a typical kid between two worlds getting her first kiss. Yawn.

Hmmm!
Overall I find the material enjoyable enough, but the female MC is incredibly immature for her age, and it’s quite annoying. All the lying , whining, etc. is a turn off. Come writers, stop writing stupid, helpless, annoying female characters! I enjoyed the narration, but had to speed up since I find Saskia reads a bit slow and too drawn out for me. I found the same issue with the “Ash” Series.

Really enjoyed it
I had to read this one as I bought Storm & Fury and didn't know this series came first.
I've seen many reviews saying Armentrouts work is a bit repeating, always a girl falling for the bad boy etc etc.
True. But... I like it. I like how she writes sassy characters and I am a sucker for these lovestories anyways.
So far I like From Blood And Ash series the most, then Lux and then this one. But hey, if you don't expect anything but exactly whay it is, these are very much enjoyable books imo :)

Entertaining
The narrator does a great job and I’d recommend the listening experience.
It was tough to get through the beginning; too immature I think, but I eventually enjoyed it. The main character is 17, so I guess the immaturity is to be expected. Layla is the type that trusts and distrusts the wrong people, and she’s not much of a fighter, so she tends to need saving. She’s naive about a lot of things, so she’s a bit of a damsel. I did like her though, she just needs more confidence and to not let people treat her like crud. She’s half demon and half gargoyle, and was adopted by a leader in the gargoyle community. Her demon side has been looked down on a lot by the other gargoyles, so she doesn’t embrace her demon side and has low self-esteem. Most of the gargoyles suck and I don’t blame Layla for withholding info from them. Someone else that sucks is Layla’s best friend, I couldn’t stand her boy crazy best friend that’s supposed to be comic relief, but is really just beyond annoying. I hated every scene with her. What I enjoyed was the action and adventure stuff; I love the demons and gargoyles scenario. That’s all super fun for me! There’s a love triangle type thing that is sort of in play, but I didn’t quite feel the chemistry between Layla and either guy. Zayne is a gargoyle that she grew up with; he’s the son of her adopted father, love the forbidden aspect, but Zayne doesn’t treat her right. Then there’s the demon, Roth, who uses humor all the time, which can become annoying, but he’s mostly a sweetheart with Layla. Entertaining enough scenarios with both guys though and I am interested to see how that will play out. Overall, fun premise with supernatural elements that I enjoyed. Looking forward to reading the next book.

MUCH better than expected
The narrator was excellent in keeping my attention and speaking for several characters. The story line was VERY interesting about Demons & Wardons(Gargoyles). I loved this story because the main characters grew throughout the story and evolved with the growth of the story line. I have to say though I did cry my eyes out with something that happened in the story - but at least I know it may not be hopeless for what and who I am sad about///this was a great escape and 5 stars for Jennifer the author and the Narrator who read the story!

Slow start but strong finish
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would probably recommend this book to a friend that enjoys young adult urban fantasy books.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
When I began this book, I had a difficult time getting into it. It took me longer than I expected to finally become interested in the story and invested in the characters. I did however, read the next book in the series and it was phenomenal.
