Sham had spent most of her young life as a sorceress and thief, stealing from Southwood’s nobility to survive. Now she must face the greatest test of her skills…
A killer has struck Southwood, claiming the lives of nobles. Lord Kerim, Reeve of Southwood, turns to Sham for help. Posing as his mistress, she delves behind castle walls to find the killer. But this murderer is no mortal—and Sham must use all of her magical wisdom to send the demon away. Because the city of Southwood has nowhere to hide—and no time to run…

Great book, but not about Rialla...
This was a great book, but it wasn't about Rialla. Rialla wasn't even in this book. I was greatly disappointed when I first started this book, expecting Rialla. Only to be surprised, when it started talking about a thief named Sham. The book is still great, but because of the description I was extremely disappointed.

Summery is off, and the narrator is not my favorit
What did you love best about When Demons Walk?
I enjoyed the story.
What didn’t you like about Jennifer James Bradshaw’s performance?
Her speech is overly enunciated. And just listening to her distracted me from a story I have enjoyed.

Love the series
Would you consider the audio edition of When Demons Walk to be better than the print version?
about the same. I love the book, and the audio As a audio newbie I've always thought that reading the book is better than listening to someone read it out. In some cases I'd have to say that's the case - some Robin Mckinley stuff is dull, dull, dull in audio when I loved the book - but this isn't the case here. I'd recommend to anyone.
What about Jennifer James Bradshaw’s performance did you like?
Nothing specific. I've listened to her other recordings for this series and for Raven's Strike and enjoy listening to her.

Great Stand Alone book for the Aralorn series
This book is a great read. I would work great as a standalone book in the series, and it leaves you wanting more. I really enjoyed listening to this books.
The Performance could have been a little louder at some parts, but it was good overall.

The story is complex but gripping. You don't want to stop - just keep going. Lots of twists and turns to keep the reader interested. If you like mythology and romance, this read is for you.

Another Wonderful Tale!
A new story told wounderfully, I just love this author. The main character is a spunky soul with some amazing adaptability in acting. I enjoy the way she moves through the different characters she has to portray.

A fantastic story.
I have listened to this story four times over the last year and a half. It is a great now as when I first read the book version. I'm a science fiction fan at heart but this story really gets better every time I listen to it.

great story and amazing narrator
Jennifer manages to read in a variety of different dialects, making it REALLY easy to "get" the whole book.
The story itself is different from your everyday paranormal lovestory. (for once, it's set in a completely different world) The heroine is witty and accomplished and her relationship develops "naturally". Nothing seems forced, the characters are great.
I really enjoyed this audiobook!

Romantic demon hunting
It's a romantic story of the wizard Shamara (not Riala), who has lost her family during a war with the Easterners. These don't believe in magic and wizardry. So the demon, who haunts the castel where the new ruler (the reeve) lives, can roam freely. Now the demon has murdered Shamaras blind and old wizard-master. And after serveral aristocrats are killed, the reeve has Shamara asked to act as his mistress, in order to live in the castele and to find and destroy the demon.
I liked the story, its funny and romantic with a good touch of fantasy, but I give only four stars, because it needs some time to get familiar withe the reader, she lisps a bit.
