Description
The number one New York Times best-selling Red Queen series comes to a stunning conclusion in which the final battle lines are drawn and the stakes have never been higher.
Victory comes at a price.
Mare Barrow learned this all too well when Cal's betrayal nearly destroyed her. Now determined to protect her heart - and secure freedom for Reds and newbloods like her - Mare resolves to overthrow the kingdom of Norta once and for all... starting with the crown on Maven's head.
But no battle is won alone, and before the Reds may rise as one, Mare must side with the boy who broke her heart in order to defeat the boy who almost broke her. Cal's powerful Silver allies, alongside Mare and the Scarlet Guard, prove a formidable force. But Maven is driven by an obsession so deep, he will stop at nothing to have Mare as his own again, even if it means demolishing everything - and everyone - in his path.
War is coming, and all Mare has fought for hangs in the balance. Will victory be enough to topple the Silver kingdoms? Or will the little lightning girl be forever silenced?
In the epic conclusion to Victoria Aveyard's stunning series, Mare must embrace her fate and summon all her power... for all will be tested, but not all will survive.

Painfully Boring
Completely fell flat. The performances were good, however the story line is overly technical without any charm to cushion it. 22 hours of rated G censored fighting. ("I swung my knife....I woke up and turns out he died"). The previous books were good. Not sure what happened here.

With a sneer
I really liked this series. I felt like the characters were believable and grew to really like each of them. The first or second book were probably my favorite. I would recommend this series to anyone, however, this last book was a little disappointing for me. It seems like the author was rushed to publish this last instalment and cut everything off short. We have now read/listened to this book for hours and then everything is over in about 5 chapters a lot of the storylines just ending, almost abruptly. It was a very strange ending and I wish the author could rewrite it. There are even a few things left unfinished which I hate in a series I’ve dedicated time and feelings to. Lastly, the author uses the word sneer way too often - apparently that’s the only expression these characters can have. Overall I would definitely still read it as I did love the other 3 books.

A wonderful addition to the series
Ok so I hate the inconclusive ending and how everything is open ended. I’m hoping she does a novella to tie up lose ends but otherwise I loved it. As always Victoria Aveyard is spectacular in creating enriching characters I can always feel connected to each character even if they are only a supporting character. I know this is suppose to be for teens but I at 24 enjoy it because of the wonderful writing.

One thing I hated is I always loved Mavens character. I wish Victoria had found somebody to “fix” him and have him redeem himself instead of Mare killing him. I seriously stopped listening with less than an hour left and didn’t finish the book for a day because I was so distraught.

So incredibly disappointed.
Ugh. Disclaimer: I am not a ‘teen’ or ‘young adult’. I was told of this series by a young lady and I started it over a year ago. I really enjoyed the first three of the series. The unique storyline and strong characters made it almost addictive- couldn’t wait for the next one! But, this book seems like it was written by a different person. For a young adult book, the sensuality, sex, homosexuality and self inflicted pain to ease emotional pain was chokingly shoved in the storyline. I would never have chosen a book/story like this one. It is about 13 hours too long. There are bunny trails in the story that do not quite relate to the past books of the series...it just is a bad love story with war tossed in to make it seem like it is cohesive to the series. If you must listen to it because of the series, listen to the first few chapters then the end...and use your common sense to fill in.

fantastically non traditional
Mare is a great example of a female protagonist who believes in change and a cause, and works for something bigger than herself.
I have fallen in love with this series, and I am sadden to see it end. Time to go get my ears pierced and the tips of my hair dyed purple.

Not the Best
***Spoiler Alert*** She Eragon'd the story. If you've ever read the Eragon book series, you should understand what I mean. If you haven't, don't worry about it. It's still worth the read, but I wasn't crazy about the direction the story ended up taking at the end of the book. It felt like she ran out of ideas or was just trying to hurry and finish the story. There's plenty of room for the author to do a 5th book, but my understanding is that she plans on this 4th book being the final part of the story. There's still too much up in the air, in my opinion, for this book to be a satisfying ending to the series. Hopefully the author will reconsider.
Another thing that I didn't like is the way the narration was done in this one. They added in male narrators to give voice to Tiberius and Maven. That's not necessarily a problem, but the man (or men) who provided the voice(s) had a flat tone, almost monotonous the whole time. It made the male parts of the story difficult to listen to for me.
Like, I said, still worth the read, but not the author's best effort.

Same thing
Book 1 was the best in the series; the story goes down hill from there. Predictable, poor character development, and disappointed.

Soooo Boring
I really tried to make it all the way through this series. But it was such a struggle that I finally gave up before finishing this last book. Really disappointing. I was no longer interested in seeing the outcome. Poorly written dialogue was taxing to read and listen too.

Not Impressed
Well, I don’t say this often, but I’m glad that series is finally over. I invested a lot of time and money into something that in the end was just meh. The series should have ended at book three. The final book did not give any further insight into the characters and had a lot of unnecessary filler. I respect the author’s ambition, but this one fell short. The performance/narration was basically the only thing keeping me going through this book.
Save yourself the 30 hours and just google the ending.
