Description

A heart-wrenching saga set on three continents, over four decades, Truth, by Omission seamlessly intertwines factual events of recent times in Africa with a compelling set of contemporary fictional circumstances.

After surviving a desperate childhood of lawlessness and violence, Alfred Olyontombo makes his way to a refugee camp while Rwanda's genocide rages behind him. His knowledge of local languages catches the attention of an idealistic young doctor who opens the door to a whole new life for Alfred. Seizing the chance, he moves forward, embracing the American dream and becoming a respected physician married to a successful lawyer in Colorado. However, his new life comes to a screeching halt when the transgressions of his youth come back to haunt him.

With his future hanging in the balance, Alfred is forced to face the misdeeds - and the nemesis - he'd hoped time had buried forever. But is it too late for the truth to matter? And which version of the truth can save him?

Great characters, great story, great narration!

Truth by Omission, by Daniel Beamish is a compelling story, written well, & performed superbly by Dion Graham. I read this book twice in 3 days - for I wanted to see if my first impressions held firm. They did so. IIn this book are all the elements of good fiction. Characters that are credible & human. A storyline that is believable & subtly draws the reader into their lives, joys, sorrows, & struggles. As it draws you in, you realize that you care deeply about these people & you simply must keep reading, far into the night,to know the paths their lives will ultimately take & to see how these compelling people can reach an appropriately logical & & realistic conclusion. The arc these characters travel to inhabit a world that is too often judgemental & violent, yet these hardworking people manage to find a place wherein their love & joy can flourish, if only for a time. Certainly the book is violent. But it also shows that the joy of purpose & real love that people have for one another can bind us all & transform the human experience, for the better - despite violence & mendacity. I never read books twice - that should tell you how deeply I admire the story Mr. Beamish has chosen to write for his first novel. Well done Mr. Beamish! Send us another!

One Great Story

. This was an incredible journey of a boy forced into manhood long before his fragile young years would dictate; A story filled with unspeakable tragedy, impossible growth and unimaginable redemption.

Loved it

One of the best books I’ve listened to in years! I couldn’t stop. I cried, laughed, and just listened. It made me feel like he was in my den telling me his story.

Quite a moving tale

This is a great story, very powerful and tense. It is told in exactly the right order, as it jumps back and forth a bit in time as it references the past and it’s meaning and importance of events that have led to the present. The main character is developed and raw and open, and it’s no struggle to feel deeply for him and his past and how it has shaped who he has become. There’s a lot of emotions to deal with and they’re all beautiful and powerful. And the narration exceeded expectations, Dion Graham crushed it.
