    Description

Even though he's on forced leave from the clandestine intelligence group known as The Campus, Jack Ryan, Jr., still finds himself caught in the crosshairs after an attempt on his life is thwarted when he turns the tables on his would-be dispatcher. Convinced that the attack is linked to his recent covert actions with the convalescing Iranian national Ysabel Kashini, Jack sets out to find out who wants him dead - and why.

Using clues found on the now dead assassin, Jack pursues the investigation, following a growing trail of corpses to the European Union's premier private security firm, Rostock Security Group, and its founder, Jürgen Rostock - a former general in the German Special Forces Command. Rostock is world renowned as a philanthropist and human rights advocate. But Jack knows him from a Campus mission revolving around a company linked to RSG - a mission that has put him on Rostock's lethal radar.

Without any Campus resources, Jack launches his own shadow campaign to uncover the truth about Rostock and a long-running false-flag war of terror that has claimed thousands of lives. Yet all of that bloodshed is but a precursor to a coming catastrophic event that will solidify Rostock's place among the global powers - an event that Jack must stop at any cost.

    Not a Jack Ryan novel

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, the Jack Ryan universe is a great one, Tom Clancy invented it and Mark Greaney keeps it alive with great books, but Grant Blackwood can't fill the shoes. The book is just not worthy of the Tom Clancy name...

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

No reaction, the ending wasn't interesting at all

Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?

The only reason I listened until the end was Scott's excellent performance. He gives life to all the characters with passion and style.

Do you think Tom Clancy Duty and Honor needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Nothing to follow up there. Just Ryan going back to ''active duty''. Since the next one will be by Mark Greaney I'm sure he'll do a great job

    Any additional comments?

I listened to all the Jack Ryan audiobooks. First performed by Michael Prichard and after that by Scott Brick and Lou Diamond Phillips. I love this series and I'm glad that at least one of the two authors that are keeping Jack and the crew alive is very good at it, I'm talking about Mark. Duty and Honor is not a bad book, but neither is it a good one...

    Weak

Have read the entire series. This is the weakest. If the next one is like this one it will be my last

No more Grant Blackwood books for me!

I would like to be more refined in this review...but bottom line is this author wrote a stupid, unbelievable story line. Seriously? The "real" Jack Ryan, Jr. would not have behaved in the way Grant has written. ridiculous. Grant Blackwood should either stop writing for the Tom Clancy heritage or re-read the previous tales and get to know the characters and write appropriately!

    I'm gonna return this turkey!

Note to self: Do not purchase any future Ryan Jr. novels written by Grant Blackwood. Buy all written by Mark Greaney.

I'm disappointed but not surprised by this novel. After Blackwood co-authored the first Tucker Wayne novel, a solid 5 star thriller, with James Rollins I broke a promise I made to myself never to purchase another Ryan Jr. novel written by Grant Blackwood. Tom Clancy Under Fire was to be the last one.

Duty and Honor is not even mildly interesting. I am suffering through to the finish. Scott Brick's narration is superb as usual.

    Weak story, strong read

I have enjoyed the Jack Ryan, Jr. stories for a while now. I think I finally realized why I like them. It wasn't just Jack Jr. I liked about them. It was the whole Campus team that I enjoyed. Frankly, I have loved Ding and Clark since Clear and Present Danger.

Now, even with a weak story, the reading kept me going. Scott Brick knows how to read this genre. He makes them enjoyable.

    I wish it was better

As an avid fan of this series, I feel that this story lacked any of the emotion and drive of previous titles. For once, I truly did not care if Jack Jr died. Then at least something interesting would have happened. I hope the next installment in December is better.

    Refund please!

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

As always Scott Brick's performance was great. Unfortunately even he could not save this one!

    Any additional comments?

I was wondering what was wrong with me! I restarted this book 4 or 5 times and just could not get into it. My mind kept wandering and I finally decided to listen to something else. Shortly after I read Wayne's review and decided its not me, it the book. I too will be returning this one.

    Weak - disappointing

I've read all of the Jack Ryan books and this was my least favorite. While I love the series, this just barely kept my attention while listening. In fact, I often found my mind wandering and I didn't even bother to rewind to see if I missed anything. I just didn't care. Even Scott Brick's talents couldn't save this one.

Do not spend your money or credits!

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Anyone who loves the Jack Ryan Sr or Jr series will be disappointed.

What was most disappointing about Grant Blackwood’s story?

Jack Ryan is such a dufys on his own. He constantly points out it is not a good idea and then does it! Boring in the extreme.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Totally annoyed I wasted a credit on a pre order, no less.....I was looking forward to this 😔😔😔

    Any additional comments?

As other reviewers have said.....no more Grant Blackwood.

    Flache Story, Jack-zentriert

Manchmal muss man raten, was es wohl heißen soll.

Good story but narrator not ideal

I love Tom Clancy's characters and stories. And I love listening to those in English. But for god's sake: If you have a book making good use of German names, locations and sentences, please have a narrator do the job who can speak, i.e. pronounce his German a little better than you were used to hearing in old WW2 movies.

Okay but sadly enough not brilliant

I miss the times when the books in the Jack Ryan universe were long and very tense. I think this book is too short with just 9 hours. As a fan it was clear for me to buy this book, but to be honest I am a little disappointed in the story and the story of Jack Ryan Jr does not evolve in ways expected. I always loved the way the personal life of the characters evolves and grows book by book but this book lacks this.
I hope for a change in the next one in the storyline.
