Histoire
Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher, a man whose magic powers and lifelong training have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin. Yet he is no ordinary killer: he hunts the vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent. But not everything monstrous-looking is evil; not everything fair is good...and in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth.

Histoire
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

They say that the Thorn of Camorr can beat anyone in a fight. They say he steals from the rich and gives to the poor. They say he's part man, part myth, and mostly street-corner rumor. And they are wrong on every count. Only averagely tall, slender, and god-awful with a sword, Locke Lamora is the fabled Thorn, and the greatest weapons at his disposal are his wit and cunning. He steals from the rich - they're the only ones worth stealing from - but the poor can go steal for themselves.

These are not dramatizations like our Dark Adventure Radio Theatre - rather, this is an audiobook of the original stories, in all-new, never-before-heard recordings made by the HPLHS' own Andrew Leman and Sean Branney exclusively for this collection. This collection spans his entire career from his earliest surviving works of childhood to stories completed shortly before his death. All tales include original music by HPLHS composer Troy Sterling Nies.

Description
Introducing Geralt the Witcher - revered and hated - who holds the line against the monsters plaguing humanity in the best-selling series that inspired the Witcher video games and a major Netflix show.
Geralt the Witcher has fought monsters and demons across the land, but even he may not be prepared for what is happening to his world. The kings and armies are manoeuvring for position, each fearing invasion from across the river, each fearing their neighbours more. Intrigue, dissent and rebellion are on all sides.
The Elves and other non-humans are still suffering under decades of repression, and growing numbers join the commando units hidden deep in the forest, striking at will and then dissolving into the trees. The Magicians are fighting amongst themselves, some in the pay of the kings, some sympathetic to the elves.
And against this backdrop of fear and contempt Geralt and his lover Yennefer must protect Ciri, orphaned heir and sought by all sides. For the prophecy rests on her, and whether she lives or dies she has the power to save the world - or perhaps end it.

This series disappointed me
I was enjoying the series at first but started loosing interest. Too complicated to keep track of the number of characters and twists in the plot. The idea is good. The story is appealing if you like the genre and a more intricate and complex plot and characters

A change from the previuous book.
This time the book holds more action, more important events that no doubt will highly influence future events. There are however a severe lack of satesfaction and the end... is horrible. It made me throw my phone more then once as i swore for blood ans murder. Ciri was correct as she said in the dark hours. She has been abandoned by everyone. And now... i only wish for her to rage. Those of you who wanted a focus on Geralt will be disapointed for this is all about Ciri. Oh how I wish for her to grow a nice and spiky spine after these events.

An amazing universe, but lack of depth
As the second part of The Witcher series, I loved being able to see Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, Dandelion and the other characters evolve in this book. The only problem is that, coming from The Witcher videogames, the book seems a little bit "shallow" in story and lore. (Super small spoiler) However, one of my favorite chapters appears in this book, and Peter Kenney does an amazing job acting the voice of Ciri as she wanders through the desert.

Good story, part of a saga-not a stand alone story
I did really enjoyed it, but it is open ended - a hook for the next one. I prefer "episodes" that make sense on their own. Apart from this personal preference, great story and very good story telling ;)

poco witcher
il libro si concentra molto sulla situazione geopolitica delle Nazioni, peccato che, come lettore, non venga data nessuna ragione per preferire una fazione piuttosto che un'altra, di conseguenza somiglia più studiare geografia a scuola, che una storia.

So far best in the series
Having played Witcher 3, I was keen on understanding more of the lore and history leading into the game. This book begins to fill in and bring together some of the backstory leading into the game and so far has been the most enjoyable of the series. Spent a considerable amount of time rewinding back to earlier chapters and noting down the different characters to keep track. Look forward to hearing more about the changing environment and characters In next novel.

Characters come alive in the dirty and unfair world of the Witcher with the readers voice.
The reader once again performs marvelously; giving each character not only a speech pattern but fitting accents and dialects to them.
The story is befitting of the Witcher universe but appears somewhat too nice in this part of the series.
The book is very obviously written as a part of a bigger series and could have done with a finish that is not as tv-series like as it is.
Overall all my criticism is on a high level and only existent at all due to my high expectations.
If you like fantasy and characters that are not simply good or evil you will like the Witcher.
