Adelaide Jameson is a determined young woman navigating her final year at East Lake University. Her world is overshadowed by a haunting tragedy: the death of her best friend, Ember, four years ago, witnessed by Adelaide under mysterious circumstances. Adelaide's return to the university is fraught with challenges as she faces both her unresolved grief and the complexities of her relationship with Jensen Anderson, Ember's brother, and the person she's secretly loved.
Adelaide contends with her trauma, guilt, and fear of confronting her feelings for Jensen, who is now a Junior Editor at East Lake Publishing and a teaching assistant in her class. Their reconnection rekindles old feelings and unresolved tensions.
As Adelaide grapples with her inner demons, the narrative reveals the intricate dynamics of her friendship with Ember and Jensen during their teenage years. Secrets, misunderstandings, and unspoken love add depth to their interwoven lives. The climax builds as Adelaide must confront the truth about Ember's death, face her feelings for Jensen, and unearth a sinister plot that has been lurking in the shadows.
