Great Britain, under the leadership of Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain had worked tirelessly to appease Hitler and come to a peaceful compromise over his rebuilding of the German Empire, despite the fact that he was violating all the restraints of the Treaty of Versailles, placed on Germany after the First World War. Follow us onward into the history of WW2 in 1940.
