Description

In this audiobook, Steve Berry and Macmillan Audio team up again to bring listeners an expanded, annotated Writer's Cut edition of The Warsaw Protocol. This Writer's Cut edition features fascinating behind-the-scenes commentary read by the author. Critically-acclaimed and award-winning narrator Scott Brick returns to his role as Cotton Malone - eponymous hero of Berry's iconic New York Times best-selling series - as the seven precious relics of the Arma Christi, the weapons of Christ, disappear one by one from sanctuaries across the world. If you'd like to listen to The Warsaw Protocol WITHOUT Steve Berry's commentary, just play the program from the beginning. To listen to the Writer's Cut version WITH Steve Berry's commentary, start with Download Part 2 at 11 hours, 49 minutes.

After former Justice Department agent Cotton Malone witnesses the theft of one of them, he learns from his old boss, Stephanie Nelle, that a private auction is about to be held where incriminating information on the president of Poland will be offered to the highest bidder - blackmail that both the United States and Russia want, but for vastly different reasons.

The price of admission to that auction is one of the relics, so Malone is first sent to a castle in Poland to steal the Holy Lance, a 1,000-year-old spear sacred to not only Christians but to the Polish people, and then on to the auction itself. But nothing goes as planned and Malone is thrust into a bloody battle between three nations over information that, if exposed, could change the balance of power in Europe.

From the tranquil canals of Bruges, to the elegant rooms of Wawel Castle, to deep beneath the earth into an ancient Polish salt mine, Malone is caught in the middle of a deadly war - the outcome of which turns on a secret known as the Warsaw Protocol.

Praise for Scott Brick as Cotton Malone:

"Brick is a masterful narrator, raising the tension in the action scenes while keeping the listener engaged in the slower historical segments." (AudioFile Magazine on The Malta Exchange)

"Narrator Scott Brick's smooth voice flows with the twists and turns of Berry's political thriller...Secrets unravel, and tensions rise as Brick shifts vocal focus from the historical secret society to contemporary conspirators who include corrupt politicians and judges." (AudioFile Magazine on The Lost Order)

This is getting ridicules

Performance by Scott Brick is as always the best. He is one of my favorite readers. As for the the book. I am really getting tiered of the interruption from the author after chapter. It is extremely distracting and annoying. I buy unabridged books for a reason, so I can enjoy my book without interruption, but I guess that is no longer the case!

WHY DOES THE AUTHOR INTERRUPT EVERY CHAPTER?!?!?!

I honestly stopped listening because the story flow was broken every time Steve Berry came on to tell me some factoid. I liked listening to that at the END of the book. There should be an OPTION to listen or not. It's so frustrating. Won't buy another audio book from Steve Berry. I should have listened to the other reviews.

Another shot at Trump

I am really getting sick of various novelists using their fictional stories to take a thinly veiled shot at President Trump! These books should come with a warning label “Anti—— propaganda disguised as fiction”. The setting is interesting and Scott Brick does a decent job although he gets a bit over dramatic for my taste. Would have been a better listen if the author’s commentary had been held till the end (where it was mostly repeated anyway!)

The authors comments are extremely distracting

I’ve been trying to listen for an hour and it’s making me nuts. Please offer a version where the author’s comments are at the END of the book, not throughout. I can’t focus on the story with the way it is currently presented. Unless a new version comes out quickly, this will be the first audio book I’ve ever returned to Audible to buy the physical book. I love Steve Berry, I love Scott Brick, but this audio format is unlistenable.

Steve Berry don't mess with my novels!

I love Steve Berry Novels, but I don't want commentary till I'm done. And the purpose of having an audiobook is hands free reading. I don't have the ability to stop what I'm doing and fast forward through commentary. The reason it worked in previous book was you could choose which way to read the book. I'm sorry finally a Steve Berry Fail.

Returned the book

Steve Berry did you listen to the final product with the multiple interruptions you provided? Love you Cotton Malone books but Returned this one less than a quarter through. Didn’t even care to go to the end to find the final resolution. This process ruined this book. Unfortunate as this is likely to cause a think twice on future books.

Included commentary is a fail

Love the Cotton Malone books...but the included commentary is poorly integrated. There is no “simple” way to skip to the next track on iOS...it’s a 30 second skip unless you navigate directly to the app, which does not help and is not convenient at all. I don’t have a problem with the option of the commentary, but please don’t force it on us again. It totally interrupts the rhythm of the story.

Annoying interruptions

The authors interruptions were irritating. Also, the politics of the president and the way Daniel's acts is a bit annoying and characterized at this point.

We get it, you hate Trump

I have enjoyed almost every book in the series, and would’ve enjoyed this one more if it didn’t seem like an excuse to talk about how much the author hates Trump. And that is fine, everyone is entitled to an opinion. I just wish it was more about the story and not about how awful the president is. Whether I like whoever is currently in the White House or not, I read fiction for fun, I don’t really want to be preached at with the authors political opinions. Scott Brick, the narrator, was excellent as usual
