    Description

May you live during interesting times: so goes an ancient Chinese blessing - or some say curse. That wish has come true for us. Now what?

In this radically illuminating audiobook, Alan Cohen delves into one of the world’s most venerated wisdom texts for answers and brings the lofty and enigmatic concepts of the Tao Te Ching down to earth in fresh, easy-to-grasp language with practical, personal examples we can use to uplift our daily lives.

Most other interpretations of the Tao march through the stanzas one by one. Here Alan Cohen calls forth the ancient verses around themes that are central to our modern lives - from love to work to the lessons we learn from pain. Then he brings each message to life in short vignettes where he imagines himself a student of Lao Tse and interacts with the master directly and intimately.

He invites you to join the ancient sage and the contemporary seeker as they wend their way through the challenges and triumphs of the same journey you’re taking yourself.

    Horrible Narration

This is some of the worst narration I have ever heard. The author would’ve been much better off having a professional read the book. The content was decent, but the narration is so bad I won’t finish the book. I’m returning this book.

    Captivating

I was wondering what could be better or even close to A Course in Miracles made easy and to my excitement this was right on par. I enjoyed every minute of this book and I wish Alan Cohen narrated my life and inner dialogue as I would probably pay more attention then.

    Thanks for writing this !

I have studied the Tao for over 20 years. I have read lots of translations so I am very familiar with it’s teachings.
This book took a fresh perspective on the Tao and I can’t recommend it enough. Thanks Alan for writing it. Alan is a great teacher and I also recommend his book A Course in Miracles made easy.

Simple wisdom in a relaxed presentation

Listen to this audio book while walking in a peaceful place and it will provide an enhanced benefit. The narrative is at a pace that allows the mind to gently absorb the content. If you prefer a somewhat faster pace, then you have the option of adjusting the narration speed.

    Alan Cohen’s Performance

Mr. Cohen’s ability to present the Tao and incorporate his knowledgeable interpretation while relating it to today’s current 21st Century lifestyle couldn’t have been presented better.

    Thank you, Master Cohen

I'd like to send my deepest appreciation to our teacher, Alan Cohen. This powerful book drew me nearer to the Tao when I didn't even know what it was. I was kept company every day to and from work, each morning and each afternoon learning more and more, understanding more and more. I'm sorry to see the book end, but look forward to the coming chapters as they play out in my own life. Thank you for this beautiful piece of art, Mr Cohen. I bow. 🙏🏻

The Tao meets A Course in Miracles

I’ve listened to and read many of the authors books as well as attended their classes through Hay House. I was listening to this book because in the past the author has made some complex subject easy by presenting them in an easier way. However, by the end of this book I don’t see the Tao any differently than I already did prior to reading the book. If the author has stayed with Loazi in the hut then it would have been a great book. However, they instead came back to reality and tied in the Course of Miracles. I understand the Course of Miracles is supposed to be a great work and very beneficial to people, but here it came across as a bandaid way to bring two together with Christianity as the result. Really I’m not sure I got anything out of this book at all. As I listened I heard the author speak of each time they let things be and called it the Tao which they ended up better as a result of it. I just don’t see a deeper understanding of the Tao after the book. Maybe I need to listen to it again, but then again the author states in the beginning of the book they weren’t sure what to do here. I believe this was more of a look at their life when they combine all three teachings. This was of benefit to me. So, maybe look at it that way when you read it.
