Description
Here, in The Story of King Arthur and His Knights, the first volume of the four, is the true spirit of the England of that time, when Arthur, son of Uther-Pendragon, was overlord of Britain and Merlin was a powerful enchanter, when the sword Excalibur was forged and won, when the Round Table came into being.
Commentaires
"Howard Pyle's 1902 retelling of the English classic captures all the mystery, language, and legend of the early days of King Arthur....The old stories take on a fresh vitality under Langton's skillful touch and leave us looking for the next volume." (AudioFile)

The Eternal Story
It is hard to find the words to express my deep affection for these stories. The telling of them the lessons to be gained. A journey into another lifetime.

Very Good Telling
This is a good telling of the Arthurian myths. The narrator was exceptional and text was modern, but faithful to its medieval roots. Some of the stories differ from the more common versions popularized in more recent times, but are still good.

Amen 🙏
I have never read all of the stories of the Arthurian Nights. That was a grave mistake. I had started reading this book two weeks ago then considered if it may be on Audible. What a gift! To be able to carry this adventures with me into my daily toils of labor and merriment.
Like so many adults our closest tales of King Arthur come from the film Excalibur. Now, i seek a deeper richer connection with these tales.
I know seek the next set of chapters.

Exceptional
With the obvious exception of the story of Jesus Christ, this, in my humble opinion, is arguably the greatest story in the history of Western Civilization. Howard Pyle's telling is brilliant, and the narration is spot on. The renowned historian / classicist, Victor Davis Hanson, has noted that the human condition has not changed in thousands of years. We are flawed and must contend with this fact. We are also capable of accomplishing many great things. Perhaps no other story illuminates it more than this one. In 2023 America, Britain, Canada, et.al. the accomplishments of the west are often overlooked or taken for granted. There is much we can still learn from this epic story.

Merlin died HOW?!?!?
Y'know, I love Monty Python's The Holy Grail, and listening to this put so much of the story behind the glorious laughs it provided me every time I have watched it. I had no clue there were that many knights that sat at the round table, and the reason behind Merlin's fate was fucking insane. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has some spare time that would like to listen to an awesome story.

Horrible Writing !!!
Technically this is one of the worst books I have ever read, and I've read about 5,000. Why? The idiot author says the word "so" in almost every sentence.
This is SO annoying that it is impossible listen to this audio book. He definitely says the word "so" over a 1,000 times. It is absurd and makes it impossible for me to finish this book.
