High on Blackpine Ridge, the Ashpaw family of black bears has guarded Stoneheart Cavern for generations. The cave is more than shelter: its deep chambers protect winter food, its underground spring feeds the lower forest, and its carved walls preserve the memory of every creature that once survived a hard season there. When a wandering clan of hyenas led by the cunning Brakka arrives, they first ask for temporary refuge. Soon, however, they seize the entrance, claim the spring, and drive the bears into the cold rain.
Rather than answering force with blind force, Rowan Ashpaw and his family must unite the divided animals of Blackpine Ridge, uncover Brakka's plan, and prove that courage is strongest when it protects both justice and mercy. This original continuous fable explores family loyalty, shared resources, strategic resistance, fair leadership, and the difference between defending a home and becoming a tyrant.
