Description
John Russell's heart aches from the loss of his wife, but the Shenandoah Valley frontiersman needs to marry again for his daughter's sake. At first he believes he has found the right young woman, despite their differences, but his faith falters when time reveals she isn't quite what she seemed. Can he truly love her?
Unlike her disgraced sister, Abigail Williams obeys the Commandments. At least, she thinks herself a Christian until a buckskin-clad newcomer courts her. He treats her kindly but also introduces her to a sermon by the controversial preacher, George Whitefield. Her self-righteousness is shattered, and she wonders about their relationship. If she confesses her lack of faith, will John continue to love her?
"Raw, realistic, and historically packed, this story will make you think. If you enjoy stories with deep theological themes, you will enjoy this." (Amber Schamel, author of The Swaddling Clothes)

The Amazing Road To Christian Life
The Shenandoah Road is an amazing ride through life in the early United States. This would often be called the old west but most of the first half of this story takes place in Philadelphia. The rest is the road to the Shenandoah Valley where the homestead is and life goes on.
Without question this is a Christian Story. If you are not comfortable with Christian Morals, Prayer, Preaching, Hymns, Quotes, or learning what it truly means to be a Christian, then this is probably not the book for you.
If you have questions about how to live a Christian life, what it means to accept Christ, or even just am I really saved, then this is an excellent fictional story that can help with those questions. Also, I believe this book gives a reasonable description of life and hardships for those living in the early years of the United States.
Excellent writing combined with truly great narration provides an excellent audio book experience. Highly recommended.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Impressive
I'm not sure where to begin reviewing this book, it is so good. It has taken a top spot on my list of audio books I will definitely listen to again. The truth of Scripture, the historical facts of the Great Awakening, the way to know Christ's salvation are all woven into the story beautifully. John's loving encouragement and Abigail's searching heart lead to big changes in their spiritual lives and their emotional feelings for one another. The journey is breathtaking at times. Then you add in a criminal, a few angry Indians, some adventure, and wow! you've got an amazing book to read or listen to.
The narrator on this audio (Stuart Gauffi) is amazing as well. The characters come alive with his rendition and his voice is wonderful for listening.
I requested this audio book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.

Beautiful Story of Redemption
This was a beautiful story about love and forgiveness. I really appreciated that the story didn't have a lot of unneeded romance too. It was such a wonderful book.

Great Christian Historical, But Not a Romance
This work is well done and massive research must have been involved in writing it. I would have given it a five overall if it had been listed as a historical Christian novel. Instead it was listed in the historical romance category. It really doesn’t fit that category. If you’re interested in The Great Awakening you will love this book.
