À propos de cette écoute

The Seven Sisters is the story that began it all. An epic tale of love and loss, it tells the stories of the D’Aplièse sisters, all adopted as babies by the enigmatic billionaire they affectionately call Pa Salt.

Read by Tuppence Middleton (
Thirty Days in Paris, The Doll Factory).

This is Maia’s story. When Pa Salt dies suddenly, the bereaved sisters gather together at their childhood home, a spectacular secluded castle on the shores of Lake Geneva. Each of them is handed a tantalising clue to their heritage and Maia finds herself on a journey across the world to a crumbling mansion in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Eighty years earlier, Izabela Bonifacio’s father has aspirations for her to marry into the aristocracy. But Izabela longs for adventure, and convinces him to allow her to first travel to Paris. In the heady, vibrant streets of the city, Izabela meets an ambitious young sculptor, and knows at once that her life will never be the same again.

What links these two young women? In the beautiful city of Rio, will Maia find the answers she needs to understand who she truly is?

The Seven Sisters is the first book in the spellbinding Seven Sisters series, inspired by the mythology of the famous star constellation. It is followed by The Storm Sister.

I was surprised by how I got caught up by the story. There's a very nice storyline, quite a few predictable series of events but still overall entertaining.
The only thing that really bothered me as a French person is not the very cliché French accent used for the English dialogues spoken by French people BUT the horrible French accent used to pronounce the French words used throughout the novel. T. Middleton does a good job of flattening English words in order to fake a bad French accent but a horrible one at actually pronouncing French words, and wierdly enough even creates accentuations where in French we barely have any.

    Good enough

The French accent is bad 😂 but Rio descriptions are cool ! Nice book 📖 you learn about 🇧🇷

    Good to pass the time

Très belle histoire, bien racontée, j’ai hâte de lire la suite . J’ai préféré la fin que le début

Facile à écouter et comprendre ( en tant que français)

I really loved the story and its pace, the only thing that bothered me - and it bothered me a lot as a French person - is the horrendous rendition of French words and sentences (almost robotic) and French accent by the reader. I really wish she would have abstained because, other than that, it was absolutely great.
But I guess for a non French speaker it doesn’t matter as much ?
Can’t wait to listen to the second book :)

    Very enjoyable read

A millionaires adopted daughter goes to an exotic country to find out about her family roots. Of course she is rich, beautiful, and intelligent. Highly unrealistic “ airport” novel. Had a hard time finishing it. Boring and predictable!

    It’s an easy read.

I loved this story and the reader's performance was outstanding! I could really hear the different characters and pictures them perfectly in my mind.

    Fascinating!

Nice performance of a romantic novel, that is quite interesting to follow but for some long lasting passages. I also found it a bit patriarchal even if it’s a story about woman, man are having the leading role.

    Well read

Très bien - belle histoire intergénérationnel. Raconter au façon intelligent et intéressant. Mais , attention, c’est le début d’une série des livres …

Les descriptions de la partie au Brésil, c’est comme une voyage

I found the story soppy and predictable, with cliché-laden dialogue, eye-watering, sugary romance, and too many repetitions of « I’m so sorry » and « I promise » and other such platitudes. I tip my hat to the person reading the book, who had to handle many different accents and intonations.
    I won’t be buying Book 2.

    Not my cup of tea
