Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The Salt Path by Raynor Winn, read by Anne Reid.

Just days after Raynor learns that Moth, her husband of 32 years, is terminally ill, the couple lose their home and their livelihood. With nothing left and little time, they make the brave and impulsive decision to walk the 630 miles of the sea-swept South West Coast Path, from Somerset to Dorset, via Devon and Cornwall.

They have almost no money for food or shelter and must carry only the essentials for survival on their backs as they live wild in the ancient, weathered landscape of cliffs, sea and sky. Yet through every step, every encounter, and every test along the way, their walk becomes a remarkable journey.

What a beautiful book about the essence of our humanity and who we are when we dig deep

I love this book, such beauty, such authenticity and vulnerability. I could put it down and look forward to the next one. Such inspiring people, showing that life is about love and walking through all life brings us .... togetherness 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

The narrator .....

Story was a bit too full of angst and toilet behind bushes being interrupted by dogs for my liking BUT it was the narrator who sounded as if she herself was struggling with the call of nature behind a bush which spoiled it for me. I think my review would be kinder if I had read it!

Not always pleasant but an important story

This book made many strong and valid points. When the author wasn't digressing into excessive facts and figures, it was compelling and real. However the narrator's voice was far too old for someone who is supposed to be 50 and because of that it diluted the effectiveness the story and made it seem almost whiny in parts. Yet it is a gripping chronicle of hope and spirituality.

Beautifuly written and narrated.

I stumbled on to this title as I considered trying audio books so it's my first. Little did I know I'd go on a 600 mile walk of a journey that has inspired me to find a fresh perspective of who I am.
