Description

The best-selling author of The Death of Money and Currency Wars reveals the global elites' dark effort to hide a coming catastrophe from investors.

A drumbeat is sounding among the global elites. The signs of a worldwide financial meltdown are unmistakable. This time the elites have an audacious plan to protect themselves from the fallout: hoarding cash now and locking down the global financial system when a crisis hits.

Since 2014, international monetary agencies have been issuing warnings to a small group of finance ministers, banks, and private equity funds: The US government's cowardly choices not to prosecute J.P. Morgan and its ilk and to bloat the economy with a $4 trillion injection of easy credit are driving us headlong toward a cliff.

As Rickards shows in this frightening, meticulously researched book, governments around the world have no compunction about conspiring against their citizens. They will have stockpiled hard assets when stock exchanges are closed, ATMs shut down, money market funds frozen, asset managers instructed not to sell securities, negative interest rates imposed, and cash withdrawals denied.

If you want to plan for the risks ahead, you will need Rickards's cutting-edge synthesis of behavioral economics, history, and complexity theory. It's a guidebook to thinking smarter, acting faster, and living with the comforting knowledge that your wealth is secure.

The global elites don't want this book to exist. Their plan to herd us like sheep to the slaughter when a global crisis erupts - and, of course, to maintain their wealth - works only if we remain complacent and unaware. Thanks to The Road to Ruin, we don't need to be.

Interesting but maybe too pessimistic

James Richards knows a lot about finance, and he knows even more about recent financial crisis... this book is really interesting if you want to learn everything that stood behind the LTCM and subprime crises.
The author gives us many indication of how the next financial crisis may be happening...
However, his visi

Absolute MUST Read!

Probably the most revealing book I've ever read on finance, social issues or politics. It's the first time I've been exposed to a model which properly explains the root cause of 2008 GFC, not just the mechanics of what happened, highlighting why it was inevitable, and how the catalyst is just that...only a catalyst. It also makes interesting linkages to many other events, and points out where it is all undeniably going. This book is worth a lot to anyone who is paying attention. Thanks very much to the author!

Same story he's written twice before

Any additional comments?

I really enjoy the information Rickards provides however if you've read or listen to his previous two books it's the same story retold with a different title.

The most eye opening book written.

This book changed my perception of reality for the better. My economics degree is now obsolete.

Ain't no rest for the wicked

This book is a wake up call for those still sleeping to what is going on in our world. It is a scary proposition and in a world of potential worst case scenarios, James paints a picture everyone should take heed. These things are already happening. I hope Janet Yellen and others read this. Regardless. You must!

Insightful compilation of the path the US has, with a consortium of Elites driving the nation to ruin

Every living, thinking American should read this tremendous book. Jim Rickards has a widely diverse background that takes him from law to Wall Street to Advisor and educator of nations, decision makers, and entities such as the CIA and FBI. His knowledge of history adds greatly to his ability to see the strengths and weaknesses of the US.

The future he projects is frightening, yet totally rational in using his plethora of experiences, the relationships he has worldwide, and the course of other great civilizations and their demise.

The unseen greed of the elites of the US and the incompetency of the Federal Reserve have placed the United States in a dangerously precarious position that may not be reversible.

Jim Rickards is the narrator of his own book. He builds the base for his projections on known facts. His experiences and gifted intellect brings the listener through verifiable evidence that is most likely unattainable in any other way.

This is an amazingly thoughtful, brilliant, and extremely well presented illumination from a man who cares about his country and fellow citizens enough to stick his neck out and warn the reader/listener of probable future and suggestions for self-preservation.

Average

Just a rehash of 2008 and 1998 crises and how he was involved in the aftermath of the 1998 crisis. Loves
to tote his own horn and tell you how smart he is. Also a name dropper!
Don't waste your time.

Compelling, well-argued and alarming

Rickards provides a well researched framework that raises serious questions about global financial stability, as well as the ability of policy elites to recognize and deal with the troubling dynamic. His analysis fits well with the turbulence that we observe in today's world and gives grave warnings that the pressures are building - not receding. He provides a wealth of facts as well as longer term historical context. His assessment is dire, but enormously compelling. This book should not be missed.
