The file was complete.
That was the problem.
When archivist Calder Muir reopens a twelve-year-old missing person case, nothing appears out of place—every page accounted for, every signature present.
But the sequence doesn’t hold.
A search that finds nothing.
Evidence that appears later.
A conclusion that skips the steps that should have led to it.
As Calder reconstructs the timeline, a quiet pattern emerges—one tied to a redevelopment project, a suppressed environmental report, and a decision that moved millions forward.
The deeper he reads, the clearer it becomes:
The disappearance wasn’t the event.
It was the adjustment.
And someone made sure the record would never show it.
Until now.
