Vivex must get to Salkov, but to do that, she needs to convince the Truescales that her size doesn't define her.
No matter how many times Vivex proves herself, it's never enough. She's earned her name, but she's still a runt, and will be judged as Fodder, denied her agency, and sent to die with no hope of continuing her bloodline and legacy. Worse, Vivex's dreams show that there's a rising Falsescaled threat in Salkov, the Capital of the smoothskin Empire.
If she wants to avoid this fate and get to Salkov, Vivex must improve her skills and meet the vicious and exacting standards of the Redscale Ambassador, Shashk, in only two smoothskin months. But Shashk might be using Vivex for her own schemes… schemes involving whoever or whatever an 'Ironmantle' is.
However, other threats reside in Salkov besides the Falsescales. The smoothskins have their own Apexes and Providers. And despite Vivex's morning-yellow pride, they can be lethal foes to cross.
But she is an Apex. She will carve out a niche and claim her stubborn victory! For she is Vivex.
Jurassic Park meets The Wheel of Time! The second book in The Saga of Vivex! Fights, intrigue, and a great expansion of the world outside the Trial Island!
