Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Time is a mystery that does not cease to puzzle us. Philosophers, artists and poets have long explored its meaning while scientists have found that its structure is different from the simple intuition we have of it. From Boltzmann to quantum theory, from Einstein to loop quantum gravity, our understanding of time has been undergoing radical transformations. Time flows at a different speed in different places, the past and the future differ far less than we might think, and the very notion of the present evaporates in the vast universe.

Description
"The Metamorphosis", first published in 1915, is the story of Gregor Samsa, a young traveling salesman who lives with his family and financially supports his parents and younger sister. One morning he awakes to discover that during the night he has been transformed into a horrible bug. Although somewhat of a horror genre, the story is often very funny as Gregor, his family, and those around him deal with their own transformations as a result of this odd predicament.

Where did that reader come from!
I have always wanted to read this story, and thought this would be a chance, but the reader was so stiff! It sounded like a safety video narrator, at best. I couldn't finish it. I guess Iwill have to actually, you know, READ it. 8/

Short and sweet
Kafka's classic is a must-read for fans of literature. His morbid sense of humor has aged very well and this particular narration is excellent.

Performance was an issue
The story was good because it is so random. The narrator was very clear in his reading but didn't get into it. Overall, it was a great buy for 66 cents.

Interesting and short
Based on previous stories from Kafka I would recommend the book. The narator could be bit more expressive.
